On p. 59 of Ann Budd's Knitters' Handy Book of Sweater Patterns (instr for cable pullover), she says, "p2, k2, pick up and k 2 stitches behind the 2 stitches just worked (2 sts inc'd), p2. . ." She has you do this again for 3, 4, 3, and 2 stitches.

I can't picture it. What does she mean by pick up behind? Is this some way to do a cross in preparation for the cables which are about to start? How do you do it, esp in the 4-st case, when the k sts are already completed?

There are no further instructions anywhere, and I haven't been able to find clarification on her website or elsewhere.

Anyone have experience, knowledge, or insights on this? Thanks in advance for help.
