would like some detail not all knit and purl.. but simple enough for the advanced beginner knitter ... my daughter likes Debbie Bliss Aran coat sweater with hood but she is tiny and the pattern is for adult.. She fits into size 12 children (32" bust, petite, narrow shoulders and 5 feet tall). I am only an advanced beginner, have knitted a couple of simple sweaters..

Hi! Your daughter sounds like she is just my size! It can be challenging for shopping and patterns.

There is a KAL on Ravelry for this one now: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/recipe-for-a-rustic-jacket

It claims to be ok for beginners, but it isn't a traditionally written pattern, so the KAL might be helpful.

The second one has been on my wish list for a while. It says Intermediate, but that's just a small step above advanced beginner, right? http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=4095
You might need to sign up for a Bernat account, but it's free.

The third one is quite simple, and has embroidery to embellish, which you could use or skip. You could add your favourite cable pattern to the front. http://www.knotions.com/issues/winter_2008/patterns/that_weasley_girl/directions.aspx

I really like the shaping in the fourth one here. The cables go nicely around it. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tuuletar
Again, if you don't have a Ravelry account, it is free and well worth it.

I hope you find something you like, and that you share pictures when you're finished! :)

I was just about to post the Bernat sweater when I noticed DizieScott had already done so. I made this a few months ago and would recommend it. I'm a beginner in knitting and found the pattern straight forward and easy to follow, but the cables keep it interesting. If you decide to do this one, you can pm me if you have any questions along the way. Have fun!
