Really do not like grey squirrels. We have quite a lot in our area and along with magpies they are a real danger to our little birds. This year I want to get squirrel proof bird feeders and put some sort of mesh around the little nesting boxes. I’m sure they put paid to the robin’s eggs. Also I have chased off a Sparrow Hawk lately before the birds start nesting. Those two possums do look quite chunky!
I cannot get to sleep again tonight so I am going to have a bit read of my book and a hot whisky toddy. Nearly finished the sweater and I think today might be the last days for knitting it then piecing it together. DH is doing some slow roasted braising steak for dinner - his sunday dinners are better than mine but I will keep that one quiet for now. I might make an egg custard to follow, if we have any room left. I think I must get out there walking and try and shift some of my winter coat (FAT!). Night night all and catch up later. 🤗 💤

Sorry you can’t sleep again Sandra. You must dread bedtime when the insomnia is such a regular occurrence. I’m fortunate that my GP allows me to have one oxazepam tablet each night to help me sleep. If I didn’t have that, the neuropathy would keep me awake and in agony.
The possums are normal size for Tasmania, Scoty said there was a huge one up the tree the other night. I remember seeing a documentary on tv, I think it was a David Attenborough one of Tasmania and the platypus are supposed to be a lot bigger here than the mainland, also the wombats.
I think Scoty cuts up half an apple for the possums each night Ann.

Really cute little critters aren't, do they do any damage to plants in your garden Sue.?
Had a text from Laura this morning to say Finley has chicken pox. So I won't be seeing them till he's better ☹ best to get it over with while he's still a baby, at least they aren't poorly with it, just itchy, she's got calamine cream and she read that oatmeal baths help.
Chilly and a bit foggy here, fed the birds and cleaned and filled the bird bath, now in for the day near the fire.

Sorry to hear that Finley has chicken pox Jan. Hope he doesn’t get too itchy but as you said, it’s better he gets it now. My eldest son got chicken pox when he was 15 and he really suffered, he had spots everywhere and he spent a lot of time, bathing in Pinetarsal.
The possums don’t do too much damage in the garden, it’s usually the rabbits and wallaby’s who like to eat freshly planted plants . We have to net everything until they are well established.
Enjoy your day inside staying cosy and warm.

The announcement in General chit chat from chezis daughter Kelly saying her Mum has died was a shock to me, she was such a lovely lady, her funny jokes and comments always cheered my day, she will be sadly missed by lots of KP members.

Very sad news about Chezl but it was nice that her daughter let us know about her passing. RIP
I forgot to mention that we also have rabbits —- one is eating our holly bush and euonymous plant in the garden. Sue, the possums look like ours from the front, very funny a bushy tail one.
I sure hope Sandra gets a good night’s sleep tonight. Your DH sounds like he loves being in the kitchen, enjoy your dinners! Oh Jan, that is terrible that Finley has chicken pox, poor little guy. I hope he only gets a mild case. Yes, the oatmeal baths work to help relieve the itching. Glad you got your bird feeders and baths filled up Jan. We had a bit of snow this morning but it has turned to rain. Weird weather —- even for us! lol
Joan must be busy today. Have a wonderful day everyone!
BTW —- no kitchen notifications again.

Well Bonnie, I have had no 'alerts' again, we must be out of favour LOL.
Just back from Sunday meal with the gang, little Sophie has learnt to wave and screws her face up with her eyes closed, so funny to see her do that.

A book always helps me, Sandra. I hope by you reading puts you to sleep. Before you know it the words on the page start running together and you are out like a light.

I can just see Jan edging little Sophie on, really think she will be taking after Jan!

Been wondering if Sandra has remembered to take a dose of' Nightnurse'' about an hour before going to bed, it is not habit forming and should give her a good nights sleep.
I have no problem at all dropping off, I must be lucky. It's 11.00pm now so I should've been in bed an hour ago but watched 'Call the midwife ' while I was knitting. Off now see you tomorrow, night night x

Each day goes so quickly for me, I don’t know if you feel the same Bonnie. We are nearly into February and Christmas seems a long time ago. I’ll actually be happy when Autumn arrives and I can spend more time in the garden. It’s just too warm to do much outside right now apart from keeping the wildlife happy:)

First of all, like everyone else I will miss Chezl. I was wondering if she was having health problems because she was on a lot before the new format started. I loved to look at her "Blast from the Past" I use one of her recipes every time I make potato dumplings. Her recipe called for oatmeal and cut back on white flour. Of course, Bonnie knows what an oatmeal eater I am. I have been making Bonnie's recipe "Baked Oatmeal".

Susan, every month seem to go by fast, I don't know it's because with age I slow down, and it takes twice as long to get anything done that makes time fly by. With the frigid weather that we just got I am hoping for this month of Feb. will fly by. Just like your scorching hot summer. I am glad we decided to stay home from my niece's wedding which would have been a six-hour drive for us. There is no place like home when it's so cold not on the roads.

Good to hear that I’m not the only one that wants winter gone Ann! Poor Sue, she’s baking with all her heat and we need/want some! lol Time is flying by, the weekend is gone again, not much accomplished either. 😥 Soon Sue, you’ll be able to get out to work in your garden with ”cooler” weather. I’m sure Molly will enjoy playing outside too. Glad you are enjoying the baked oatmeal recipe Ann. I think I’ll make some this week. There is definitely no place like home Ann, probably a good idea to stay home from the wedding.

Hard having a wedding in your winter Ann, it’s a pity they didn’t decide on a Spring one instead. The last wedding that I went to was James and Becs, 8 years ago. To be honest, I’m not really into dressing up much these days. I hate shopping for clothes, am I the only one ? When I was younger I was always clothes shopping for myself or the kids but then I had a lot more energy and probably patience.
We had FaceTime with Blake today, he was showing us his new teeth, he’s got such an adorable smile.

I can imagine Blake being adorable, too bad he doesn't live closer, yet we do the best we can.
I was thinking the same thing the other day about dressing up. Now as long as I have a clean pair of jeans and top, I am happy. I comb my hair and out the door I go.

Joining in for the last time tonight ladies. I’m off to bed. Nice to have face time with Blake, I know how much you miss him Sue. It would be nice if he was closer. I’m with both of you —- I hate dressing up and hate shopping too! With the wild colours and styles, I’ll make do with my old wardrobe! lol
Night, night. ❤

Kinky pair of shorts I saw online the other day. The backside was ripped so that the buttocks were on show. Can you imagine walking down the street wearing them   I hate the swimsuits and bikinis that have a thong bottom, why on earth would you want your bum on show ? Even when I was young I wouldn’t be wearing one, imagine all the sand getting into your nooks and crannies:LOL:
