Laughed with you about the skimpy shorts and thongs Sue, there's a reality show on T.V called 'Love Island', never watched it but have seen ads. for it,--- the girls might just as well be swanning about in the nude, the guys must love it !! LOL. Mind you, some of the blokes are a bit of eye candy too lol.
As for dressing up these days, like you and Bonnie, I am not one for clothes shopping or dressing up, as long as I look ok and tidy that'll do for me--- and don't even mention shoes.
Lovely to have Face time with Blake Sue, these littlies are so adorable aren't they, such precious moments.

Making beautiful memories with Blake, so important Sue. WOW, we must all be cut from the same pattern ladies. I also hate shopping for shoes too Jan, I need a wide fit but everyone else must have skinny feet because they seem to be difficult to find, very frustrating. I guess they don’t like catering to us old folks! Oh yes, the short shorts aren’t my cup of tea either!

Not doing much today. Had Ian and family over yesterday. Did a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. We had a trifle for dessert too. So today we will just have something light, like scrambled egg and tomatoes on toast. The girls are such fun to have around and eat everything that is put in front of them with gusto.

We are baby sitting Pugsley. their pug doggy while they are away on holiday for a few days. He's fast asleep on the chair at the moment. He has been for a long walk and had some chicken this morning, so he is not too miserable about being left behind.

I often look on line for Hotter shoes Bonnie. Then I can get good quality shoes when they have clearance sales etc. I have to have support with my shoes because of the neuropathy. In fact I was told years ago not to wear slippers as well.

We do love the little ones don't we. Feel worn out today though after playing all day yesterday. Elsie is at the stage where she can help me whip up the cream or stir something for me. She is always willing. We get lots of cuddles too.

Oh Jeannie you must have had a lovely day yesterday with the family and now you are lucky enough to have Pugsley to spoil.
I have problems with shoe fittings too, I used to be able to buy any style of shoe but my feet have now spread ( like everything else) plus the bunions don’t help.

Pleased that Jeannie got to spend yesterday with family, especially the littles. Sounds like you had a wonderful dinner. Elsie must be getting to be a great help in the kitchen, lovely memories you are making Jeannie. Lucky you to have Pugsley staying with you, nice to have the “company”. Thanks Jeannie for the hint for the shoes, very much appreciated. Sue, I’ve always had wide feet but it seems that they are making shoes narrower! lol That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! lol

Right on Sue, the clothing sizes are terrible! I guess we’ll have to go back to making our
own —- just like in the old days! lol I can remember picking up material on my lunch, going home and cutting out the pattern and sew it that night and wear it to work the next day! lol
Don’t think that would happen now! I move too slow and can’t sit that long. 😂😂
Anybody else used to make their own clothes?

Sadly my sewing skills weren’t all that successful. I remember my first sewing class at school, trying to use the treadle machines. Moving up to the electric sewing machines were much easier but I can’t remember any of my ‘projects ‘ being good enough to wear. My mum didn‘t own a sewing machine so I hadn’t been able to practice at home. I now own a machine and have always made my own curtains and I’ve run up outfits for the kids over the years for dress up day at school. I also made a Kaftan for myself a couple of years ago which was easy as it didn’t entail darts and fittings as such.

Treadle sewing machine Sue? WOW, we had electric machines at school for home ec class. Sounds like you have sewing skills to make a kaftan! I have a treadle machine that I keep on display in the living room —- I’ve never tried to use it —- I’m not very coordinated! lol
You do have sewing skills Sue —- you go girl! lol 🥰🥰

U two make me Laugh  I was never much of a sewer, but I had my own Phaff sewing machine. Gracie took a interest in at young age of eight. For Christmas that year I bought her own machine plus the lessons how to use it. The instructor was so impressed with her that she kept pushing Grecie to learn more. The instructor taught her things that I didn't even know myself. Gracie, became the regular mender at her house.

Very nice that Gracie has taken up sewing! You never know where her expertise will take her. 🥰
Sewing is a great skill for everyone but especially for the younger generation! Congrats to Gracie and stay with the sewing lessons! Yes, Sue and I are laughable! lol 🥰🥰

Very talented is Gracie, has she shown an interest in making dolls clothes ? I think it’s fantastic that you have encouraged her to have the lessons as well. Who knows, she may be a fashion designer one day.
Bonnie, it was probably 1963/64 when I began high school and treadle machines were all we had in our sewing class. I had problems co ordinating the damn thing while trying to sew straight and keep my fingers away from the needle. You are lucky to have one yourself, they are quite sought after these days. You should have a go on it if it still works, worth having a giggle.

Will have to try the old treadle machine out Sue —- one day! lol My MIL had a treadle machine and it was well used making dresses for the ladies/girls in town, Jim’s four sisters, many wedding dresses and she even made me a few maternity outfits. We used our machines in Grade 7 and 8 — 1961/1962. I’m like you, I can’t concentrate on too many things at once. lol
My machine belonged to the lady who lived next door to us at our second house. I wanted to buy it when she was moving but she gave it to me as Jim had done many things for her around the house, so I have cherished it all these years (38).
I hope Gracie does continue with her sewing Ann.
Well, I’m off to bed —- again! lol See you in a few hours!

A very kind neighbour you had Bonnie, giving you the sewing machine. I think our bachelor neighbour at the back of us has a treadle machine too. He has all sorts of antiques including a lovely grandfather clock.
Well, you have a good sleep Bonnie, I’ll see you later.xx

Been catching up with kitchen news, I only got here through looking in my in box and found a previous one from Bonnie, --
I have an old Singer hand cranked sewing machine, I bought it in an antique shop for a few pounds, it has a boat shaped shuttle, it works but I have never used it, it's on a little table just for show.
Now I have an electric one but that's in the attic, unused these days. I used to make curtains and do repairs but have never been a dressmaker.

Cosyfeet.com is where I get all my shoes from Bonnie.
We've had a rough few days, too personal for an open forum! We're ok now.
As for needlework I made three bridesmaids dresses for my friend and my own bridesmaids dresses on a treadle sewing machine. I also made all my own dresses, nightdresses and evening gowns. Later I progressed to an electric machine and made clothes including coats and tailored trousers for Susan and myself.

Far out Joan, what amazing skills you have in the sewing department. You must have saved money, making your own clothes, especially the bridesmaids dresses. I’m impressed that you used a treadle machine too. Was your mum a dressmaker?
I wondered where you were, the past few days. I thought you might have internet problems. Glad to hear that you and Dave are ok, don’t overdo things and take it easy.

Fine seamstress you were Joan! WOW, you taught yourself well —- making coats and trousers too!! I never made anything like that —- just basic sewing. lol I’m glad to hear that you are both okay, please take care. xo
Thanks for the tip where you buy your shoes too Joan, very much appreciated! I signed up.
Jan, your “little” machine is probably now worth a lot, nice you have it on display. Antiques are very popular and people pay lots. Yes, Sue I’m back —- it’s 6 a.m. and our neighbour was a lovely, generous lady. She lived with her MIL for many years.
