Gone is my idea of going to market, LOL, I'm far too busy knitting, I have to go to town on Friday anyway to get my new hearing aids checked so any bits I need from the stores I'll get then.
Anyway the wind has got up since I thought about going out ,it also looks very cloudy so it might rain.

Early morning for me as we had the man come to see to our sceptic tank. Not pleasant but necessary in the country.

As for sewing, I enjoy anything done by hand, but hate the sewing machine. I have got a lovely one in the cupboard that Richard and the boys got me years ago, but it sits sadly unused. I put it down to the fact that Mum was a tayloress and was employed above Oxford Street to make Debutants dresses before she met Dad. Mum had a treadle machine in the front room and I remember her getting it electrified . She always grumbled that it was never as good as the treadle.
I have got a very ancient sewing machine that Richard's grandmother gave me. It is a sweet little thing in an arch shape where the whole arm goes up and down like a nodding donkey. It has the box and instruction book with it too.

Dinner today is chicken stir fry and I have made two loaves that are warming in the oven.

Happy, happy, happy —- looks like we all jumped in!!! lol Lots of talented people in the families! WOW, Jeannie, your mum sounds like she had a wonderful job! I keep my regular machine set up —- covered —- just in case! Now just use it for little “jobs”. lol
Jan, I think it is a good idea to stay home and make one trip Friday. Keep warm.
Yummy, I can smell your loaves from here Jeannie —- enjoy! How is Pugsley enjoying his visit?
I remember when I was a kid and they used to empty the septic tank —- yuck —- the smell, but as you say Jeannie —- necessary in the country.

Fresh bread for Jeannie and chicken stirfry, yum. I bet your kitchen smells delightful.
Yes, we have a bio-cycle septic system and funnily enough, our maintenance man came out this morning to do his quarterly check too. That’s one of the down sides of living in the country along with having to use tank water.
Im off to bed soon, it’s 10.30 here, the day has gone so quickly again.
See you all tomorrow xx

Just wondering about Sandra, haven't heard from her lately, hope those darn headaches aren't getting her down.
Dinner sounds good Jeannie, I'm having chicken schnitzels and roast vegs with baby new taters, ( Schnitzels were given to me by my d d inlaw) left over from Sunday dinner, I shall have them cold with the hot veg which I'm making myself.
Mince pie and cream for afters.

Keep wondering about Sandra too, Jan. I hope her headaches aren’t back again and that she heard from her youngest son yesterday. I know she really looks forward to his calls.
Enjoy your schnitzel Jan, sounds lovely and your mince pie and cream for afters sound yummy! Very generous of your DDIL to share.

Lucky to have such a thoughtful dil, if/ when there's any food left over on Sundays when I go, she sends me home with a 'granny bag',.
Yes, Sandra always looks forward to chats with her youngest son.
I was thinking what you said about the old machine I have being worth money Bonnie, but watching an antique show on T.V one came up for sale and it didn't fetch more than a few pounds, the auctioneer said they were quite common and people were not interested.

Nice having cuddles with Pugsley. I do feel sorry for the poor boy having to stay with us. I bet he misses the family dreadfully. Still he is lucky we live in the wilds, so he can enjoy nice walkies, and muck and slosh.

Yes, it's true machines don't fetch much. I also have an ancient typewriter that has 3 characters per arm. Most unusual. I did used to be a shorthand/typist Secretary in the day. Not my favourite job when I look back.

Oh, you are lucky Jan that you call it a “granny bag” and not a doggie bag! lol I used to do the same with the kids after family functions but now we get to bring home the granny bag. I’m sure Pugsley is happy staying with you Jeannie, maybe enjoying the quiet time. Nice that he has lots of room at your home. Your typewriter sounds very unusual Jeannie, have never seen one like that. Have you had it appraised or looked it up on the internet? Maybe you should contact the actor Tom Hanks, I believe he collects typewriters. lol Don’t see many around these days. lol The good old days for our old jobs. Yes, Joan the old treadle machines are quite decorative, I’m sure there are some that are “special” and are worth a bit more. Jan, I think your little machine would be a wonderful decorative piece, enjoy! lol Maybe one day it will be worth lots.

Poorly feeling today, I have a sore throat and lots of fatigue. I was thinking about the fashions of today. I wonder how many people have full length mirrors and take a look at themselves before they go out in public. I bought Gracie one for her bedroom. She is very religious at looking at every outfit she wears. She definitely wants to be part of the fashion world and fit in with her peers. Yet she wants to be presentable.

Quite sad that you are feeling poorly Ann. Take care and be well soon. Lots of fluids and rest.
I don’t think many people own full length mirrors —- if they did they wouldn’t dare leave the house with what they are wearing! Good for Gracie, hard being her age and trying to fit in but still being true to herself. Again, take care.

Really think that your Gracie is a very sensible young lady Ann and one to be proud of. I hope you aren’t coming down with the flu, you need to rest up and do as Bonnie said, lots of fluids and rest.
Molly and I are having a girls day today, James has got an appointment in the city and Scoty is playing golf. He played much better on Saturday so I hope it carries on today for him.
Yes, I was also wondering about Sandra, hope everything is ok with her.

Special day for you and Molly, sometimes I myself like my own time. It doesn't happen too often. Art usually wants me to go along with him wherever he goes except for the Lions meeting. Those meetings are in the evening, and they seem to be shorter all the time. It seems like he just left the house, and he is home again. I made a tip roast the other day. I had quite a bit of roast left-overs. I decided tonight that I would cook the meat in beef broth and make a beef barley soup. Since I didn't make the soup tonight, we had a lettuce salad along with a slice of the cooked beef in a sandwich with pumpernickel bread. Tomorrow night we have the soup.

Time for soup making Ann, enjoy your beef barley soup! Yummy, especially in this really cold weather. How are you feeling Ann?
Sue and Molly having a girls day in, lovely! Yes, short meeting seem to be the in thing —- since Covid. Nobody seems to have much to say.

We haven’t had home made soup for ages, it’s a bit too warm to contemplate right now. We’ve been having lots of salads though and James has been cooking the meat on the Weber, no cleaning up which is always a bonus.
James is home now and Scoty will probably be home in an hour or so. He’ll be happy when he gets home as the courier brought him another golf club which apparently was on sale  . He said he’s sold one of his to one of his pals at the club, probably makes him feel less guilty about buying another one. I’ve lost count now but I don’t say anything, just in case I see something online that I want to buy, haha.
He received an email from his cousin in Scotland this morning to say his other cousin had collapsed and died from a heart attack last week. So sad, he was only early 70’s and played golf nearly every other day so we assumed he was pretty fit. He lived on the Orkney Islands of Scotland with his wife.
