I see beautiful pics of swaps but don't understand where they originate, who decides what goes into each one and how to get into the swaps. I live in Ontario Canada. Does that matter?

A swap is usually organized by a swap coordinator. People sign up for different swaps and the coordinator assigns you a partner. Some coordinators may give a theme to the swap and others don't. A participant fills out a questionnaire and it is given to your partner. Then it's up to you what you want to put into the swap package. The coordinator usually sets a minimum dollar amount (like $10.00).

Click on the HOME link above, then SWAPS, and you can then contact a coordinator and see if she has any openings.

there is an ontario only swap as well as lots of canadian ones some for blanket squares (kentish lady and a ton for potholder discloths etc a warning swapping is very addictive

Tell me about it, I thought I would have a dabble to see how they worked and I now have done 5, I am still waiting for a couple to come through and just about to send off another one. They are great fun. I live in the UK and sometimes the postage is a little excessive, so have to be careful what I send so it may seem I am a little mean, but I follow the basics and then add a little more if I can.
