The pattern is a paid pattern so I can't look at it. Stitches that are too tight to knit is most often that you knit very tight. Sometimes is is the fault of the fiber and the type of needle you use. Like wood needles stick while metal are slippery. if your problem is with the pattern itself, please describe further or copy the part you don't understand.

I've made this sweater and agree. The sleeves were a bit hard to join. I used an additional needle and sort of 'traveling loop' method. After a few rows, your struggle will be over. I did have an underarm hole but sewed that up. Finished, it looks great.

I also hand stitched a length of ribbon across the back neckline from eyelet to eyelet to reduce some of the stretching. This is a very stretchy sweater.
