My 2 older granddaughters wear their socks like slippers in the house so of course they don't last long...so now I only knit them slipper socks in a different fiber & less expensive than the sock yarn...
Putting some kind of dots or other non skid material on the bottom will change on they feel on his feet too...Wearing his socks with slippers is the way to go.
