I've seem to have lost all my old knitting patterns, I'm looking for a sweater pattern for boys (size 6/7 and 8/9) using straight needles. I've found some but they were with circular needles and I don't care to use them. Would anyone have what I'm looking for or maybe point me in the right direction to find one. It could be a v-neck or regular pullover. Thanks in advance for your help.

I found a pattern book of basic patterns in all sizes from toddler to adult at the local yarn store about 2 yrs ago. I think it's put out by Patton. There were 3 books one for each weight of yarn. I also think Interweave had one just 6 months ago too. I don't remember the author. I'm not thinking this will help much but I tried. :-( :thumbup: knitpicks has good book sales sometimes and might have something listed there

You can use any needles you want with the patterns that specify circular needles UNLESS they are knitted in the round. The only reason for using circulars for most sweaters is so that you don't have to scrunch up the project on a straight needle. Try Red Heart, Lion Brand or Bernat web sites. All have a large number of patterns.

You could try freevintageknitting.com (I think that's the right URL.. google free vintage patterns and it should come up) They have great patterns that are really pretty classic and I saw a bunch of kids sweaters, jackets, etc. last time I looked.

Thank you for you information about RedHeart and Bernat. I just downloaded some great sweater patterns that I can use for my great nephews, I found a pattern that can be used for both their size. Again thank you for all the great hints.
