I found it took me just as long to order it online as a trip to the grocery store took. Only tried it once. Nice experience, but I think I like to see the food that I am purchasing. (I am the same way with yarn!)

I shop online quite a lot. I have mobility problems and it saves me trudging round the store. Have a look to see who you want to shop with though, as prices for delivery can differ from day to day and it also depends what time slot you choose. I think Waitrose deliver free, but I may be wrong.

It helps stop impulse buys, and will still offer you the bargains. Also saves lugging the heavy stuff home. You find you'll get quicker at it with practice, and the store keeps note of what you buy so you can go straight to your "usuals" which saves time.

I hope this helps. If you have any queries about shopping online, PM me and I'll come back to you.

I shop online a lot. Very efficient and if you are not happy with something you can refuse it no problems. I use tescos a lot and have never had a problem They send ivery good expiry dates. It's not expensive in the UK as long as you plan your delivery day.

I am fussy about the produce and meat I buy. I have a Safeway two blocks from the house. I intend going to the grocery....or having my husband pick something up on the way home. He's terrific with a list and I he seems to be checking the bottoms of the bananas.

I have a weekly delivery from Asda and find it saves me time & money. I pay £3 for a delivery on a Wednesday afternoon which is less than the cost of a taxi one way.

The first couple of orders can take time to do but once you've had a few orders you can just go to your favourites and select regular purchases from there. You can see at a glance if any of your favourites are on offer. If you look through the special offers you can take advantage of any that appeal.

The best thing about it is that I don't impulse buy. I would spend a lot more if I went into the store to do my shopping.

I think it depends on what you normally buy from a grocer. Personally I do not purchase meats at grocery stores (buy from ranchers that butcher) and only in winter do I purchase produce from grocery stores. Normally I purchase produce from farmers markets or farm stands that have better quality and pricing.

For canned goods and staples I would think it would be easier than shopping.

PeaPod was quite popular for a while. Schwan's is still popular for frozen foods.

I shop online with Waitrose )not Ocado), they deliver from my local store. If you order more than £50 worth the delivery is free. I have had no problems with these deliveries. Go for it. It gives you much more knitting time.

My Mum used to do it (via my brother) Where she lived, Tesco and Sainsbury provided the service, free delivery if a certain sum was spent. Also, they always delivered when they said they would!!!!
She loved it, very happy

My friend does her shopping on-line from a major supermarket and loves it. She had trouble once with the colour of her meat but the money was refunded immediately. The delivery driver even carries it to her kitchen because she uses a cane.

Go for it, is my advice! With Tesco you can get delivery for as little as £2.77 each time, if you sign up for regular delivery. With the cost of fuel going up, this is a bargain.

The only reason I don't like it and think I should shift my lazy bones to go to the store is the 'reduced'counter bargains which I miss. But there again I'd overspend very quickly.

Also if you take the time to surf the online offers you can find things you might miss in store.

I try to keep my weekly shop, all-in for 3 plus 2 expensive cats to £50, but it's a struggle.

I like on-line shopping for anything because it gives me the opportunity to compare items, and time to consider what - if anything- I really need. And if you spend enough, often postage is free.

I got a tremendous bargain from Holland and Barrett with their penny sale- enough soy flour and wheatgerm to do for a year (in the freezer) at half-price.

I've used Asda, Sainsbury and Tesco and they are all good. It saves me money because I tend not to browse but just stick to what I've saved in my favourites. Also you can add things or change your order so long as it's within the time limit for each particular store.

I only do top-up shopping now when I take my Mum to do her little bit of shopping. I hate shopping of all kinds but especially food shopping, so this suits me down to the ground.

Family in downtown (nearly) Chicago use PeaPod for the main grocery order. It works very well and is delivered to the door in their condo. My experience is limited, but I have noticed that the fresh produce is not always perfect. I called and complained and they deducted the purchase price from the next order. There is a delivery charge and a tip (optional) for the delivery guy, but in a downtown area, I think it is well worth it. Shelty lover

Nannajay-Check with neighbors, friends, and family to see if anyone can give you any recommendations or advise. If you don't have anyone to ask, you'll have to do your homework. Check into the the services being offered. What are they charging? Is it just a small amount that it doesn't impact your overall bill that much or is the cost considerable? What is the quality of the products offered? Do they carry the brands you prefer or would you be getting brands you would normally not choose? Fresh fruits, vegs, meat, and dairy. Good quality and in good condition? How long do your items sit after being pulled before being delivered? Are the delivery vehicles refridgerated to keep everything fresh? How long will delivery take from the time you ordered? If you can, test them by placing a small order to see how they do and if they are reliable. You will have to decide if it's worth it or if pulling your little shopping trolly is really not that bed. Good luck! Denise

Like anything else online you have to be careful who you buy from. I purchase from Drugstore.com and don't have any problems and can save money on items I can purchase at
Wal-Mart or items I can no longer purchase at local stores. eBay is more secure now than it has been in the past, but you need to check out the seller comments first and their rating.
