Post being moved...Policing gone too far

2145 Views 33 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  sdftrace
I was just answering a post from Stablebummom about the series of books she is reading as she recuperates from her amazing hip replacement. I had just written a lengthy post to find it couldn't be submitted because 'Topic is closed'..
So this topic has been moved to Book club discussions category or something like that? And isn't available.?
As far as I am concerned this post is just as much about communicating and following recovery of a member of KP as about a book series and belongs in General Chitchat where the most members can benefit from seeing that she is doing well and maintaining her sense of humor.
Whoever moved this, Tyrant in Charge of Petty Things I suppose, should read the post and realize the significance of the content and leave it where it was! If you don't recognize the posters you shouldn't be in charge of moving, closing or deleting!

I replied in General chitchat and it is now in books. That is moved.
Never saw it in General Chit-Chat. So who moved to book section.
Yes, that is moved. Usually there is a notification if a post is moved, and I can find nothing to indicate that, so now this is a real mystery.
It is a mystery for sure.
Hi, Thanks for the info.
If the post was originally in General Chit Chat I have no knowledge of how it was moved to Book Club so sadly can't answer this query.
However, I did see it when it appeared on Book Club Discussion Group's Main Page as a new topic.
Unfortunately no email prompts are sent out to Book Club members when new topics are posted - we have no idea why this is so, it has always been like this.
Because we always like to respond quickly to posts, I post up a note in the section "Our latest recommendations & discussions" to let members know so the recommendation doesn't get missed. Discussions then take place there. The new topic is closed and with the link given as to where posts will now be found for following comments.
The sections entitled "Poetry & short stories" and "Our latest recommendations & discussions" are the only sections open for posting to make it easier to "find" the latest posts and email prompts are sent. Originally we had so many topics posted it was way "too busy". Hence the current way of working.
Please visit our main page for further details and see all the Authors who have been recommended and post in the open sections at any time. Thank you.
Do please send a PM if you have any further queries. Thank you.

book club moderator.
Thanks for your explanation, I've been confused about the place where book recommendations/comments were originally posted, then locked. I didn't realize that further discussion was available in that very long other section. I've got it now.
I think we should be able to post fairly freely in General Chit-Chat. I agree with MMWRay.

Thank you kaypriest for your note.
I very much look forward to hearing your recommendations. Thank you again.
It was definitely moved because it was in General Chit Chat when I first read it, soon after she posted it. I didn't reply, just read the post and moved on to other topics that were also in GCC.

The same here, I saw in in General Chit Chat and I don’t look at books.

Just by that it does belong in the book section.

Personally I think there are too darn (insert expletive of choice) many sections in this new forum.
Only 2 more sections has been added since the new owners. KP member In Memory section and Health section. All others have been in place for ages.

Yes, on original version of KP, only Admin could move topics. Now, moderators also can.
Also, the reason Admin did it on the old forum is because there were NO moderators -- just admin himself.

Only if the subject is General Chit-Chat and not something that belongs in another category. So much would get lost if everything was in one category.

It sounds like we need to have a long discussion about sections, moderating and the site in general. I'll try and get some type of town hall discussion going before the end of the year.
