This may sound stupid but I'm not much of an expert on the computer and I'm hoping someone can help me.
When I go to Ravelry (or other sites) to get a pattern, the only choice I have is to download it. I want a printed pattern only. If I download it I have no way to print it. Is downloading the only choice I have?

When I want a pattern from Ravelry, I always have to download it first. Sometimes, when I hit download, it takes me to someone else's site, and I have to find it there. Either way, you will have to download it, and it should just pop up, so you can print it and then close it without saving it. I always save the ones I like though. Why can't you print if you download?

If it is a ravelry pattern you need to download the pdf to your computer. You can then open it and print it.

Thanks for your replies.
When you have the pattern up, just click once anywhere on that page. Then do Control P. A box will pop up where you can Print All, Print Page (1, 2 or 2-3 etc), Or Selection. If you only want to print part of that page, Highlight the part you want, Control P, Selection, Print.
If you want the whole article, Control P, then hit Enter.
I hope that works for you!

If you have a pdf reader loaded on your computer...
I am running Windows 7 and use Fire Fox Browser.

When at Ravelry, when you click on the download link,
the download box will show a choice: Open With or Save File.
Click on open with (should have your pdf reader mentioned beside it).
It will temporarily open in your reader.
Once there and you are ready to print it out...
At the top left corner of your reader (I use Adobe), click on File, then select "print".
When you are done, you can close your reader...pdf file is not saved to your hard drive.

You can also just right click on the download link and have it open it in a new tab or new window,
and then click on file, then click on print.

I re-read your post...
Do you even have a pdf reader installed on your computer?
You can go to adobe website and download their free pdf reader.

OR, if you cannot get Adobe Acrobat reader, try FoxIt:

On my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit...through a dial-up connection, I could NOT get a version of Adobe Acrobat to work/download. You basically have two alternatives for a PDF reader (so far).

Thank YOU for the alternate websites. I have saved them...in case I cannot get the Foxit reader for ANY reason to update. I'm not upset with the alternate Foxit...it does stuff that Adobe Reader doesn't. Nice trade off!

You are welcome.
If there was only one program that does it ALL, we wouldn't have a choice to fit into our own personal needs/likes.

I actually place the blame on the computer...even as an 'infant' it has an annoying habit of making its wishes and wants known. I have encountered this whatever the style AMD CPU mainchip motherboard I've built/dealt with. Even two of the same make of motherboard have different issues.

Usually once the pattern is downloaded and open in the PDF program there will be a printer icon near the bottom of the page. It is a Ghost type thing, it's there if you hover the arrow over it and goes away when you move the mouse. Some programs have a File button at the top that you click open to find Save, Print, etc.
Let us know what PDF program you are using and we can help further.

Hi if you have a new update on your Adobe reader you will find that the print function and the save function float over the page. Put your curser over the page and it appears. If you have been using an old one you will find this different at first.

I hd that problem too, then quite by accident i ran my mouse over the bottom right hand quadrant of the screen and a bar appeared withthe symbols for save, print and something else I can't remember what because I never used it, just press the symbol for print and it will print. If this doesn't work right click(clikck thr right had button on your mouse while holding the mouse over the pattern on screen, this should bring down a menu which has print on it somewhere. Just click this normally and the page yo ae on at least will print, usually it is the whole pattern. If it is only one page then just scroll down to the next page and repeat until you have all the pattern
