I am near to finishing the lacy points and took a break to read the rest of the directions. Is it correct, as I understand the instructions, that one does tube ribbing at the end of the shawl like what is done in the beginning? It doesn't make sense to me to have 2 of the tubes when only one of the tails will be put through the tube ribbing to close the shawl in the front. I know some of you have made this shawl so will know the answer. Thank you in advance.

In looking at the pictures on Ravelry, it appears that the tie can be put from left to right, or right to left. Is that perhaps the reason for two tubes?

I put tubes on each end. It will make both ends look the same. I do tend to use the same end for closing each time I wear it.

Thanks. I guess that makes sense. I've made several bow tie scarfs that have the same closure, but they have just one tube.

I just did a small slip thru scarf with that design detail. It allows variation of closure but also helps keep the sizing equal.

Yes, there is a tube on both sides.

And here I'd imagined I was the only crazy to put the tunnel on both ends of my bow-tie scarves! I guess I just liked the symmetry. I am happy to see that others do the same, and that this pattern is even written with it!
