I signed up for ravelry even before the knitting paradise but seldom venture there. I just happened to be on the Caron site reading about Vickie Howell's move to Bernat (whilst downloading a truckload of patterns to assist me in ridding myself of a ton of Simply Soft yarn ). I kinda followed the trail from Vickie's announcement and ended up at Ravelry.com. I guess I need to spend time there as well. But Knitting paradise is so warm.

I am a member of Ravelry, but only use it to look for patterns. KP is the only site I spend time on (way too much sometimes). Have learnt so much from here, even though I have been knitting for over 60 years.
Ditto for me! Ravelry is a great resource/database, but its groups/forums are difficult to navigate. KP's easier.

Me too; I always come here first, and quite often don't even get to R unless someone posts a pattern that I want. It is good for yarn info, that is the main reason I go there. KP is fer more warm, friendly & inviting!!! Hugs to all my KP friends!!!!

Love Vickie. Think she has a cute smile.
Love her patterns.
Not to into Ravelry except for patts. Too hard to follow.

Well add me to the swarm - as far as I am concerned Ravelry is a library!

Absolutely, but if I am looking for a specific yarn, and it cannot be found elsewhere I have been able to purchase for a couple of members who have it in their stash, even when they say it's not for sale.
I have trouble navigating it too, but not here! Everybody here is like family.

I use R for patterns, too, but recently I've been looking up project for specific yarns. I have stuff in my stash that I bought when I first started knitting and didn't really know what I was buying! I either don't have enough or have no idea what to do with it. So I go to Ravelry, type in the brand and weight of the yarn and look to see what others have done with it. This also lets me see how something will drape or how it will look made with certain size needles. Since I've been doing this I've been making sure I add as much info as I can when I add a project. Knowing someone else may be looking for just that type of info like I do.

I've learned to use the groups. Once you get used to it it's not much different than here.

I stick to KP too as it's so clear and easy to navigate. I'm a member of a forum called Gransnet but if I leave a comment to something, I never find out if anyone has added anything. It's so difficult to find things on Gransnet. I am tempted to suggest they look at KP to see how it should be done!

Okay now that I have seen all the responses I feel more comfy to share. I find the place absolutely terrifying. Or perhaps I am intimidated by all the experts, plus trying to find my way around is like amazingly complex. You know they have a tutorial on navigating the site which I find just as mind boggling.

It looks like a place where only experts hang out. Okay guys I am good at what I do. Must admit I do need to be a tad bit more patient, i.e. read the instructions twice etc. But I just can't .... I don't know. I mean they had lots of nice patterns and stuff which I normally will snap up in a heart beat, but I felt like so debased to take their stuff particularly when it seems the patterns are designed by actual members! And I mean the stuff is mind blowing that they design.

There is that word again DESIGN!!! Like if you can't design don't even go there.

But don't pay me any mind. I am that sort. I feel like the epitomy of a craft is being able to design something. (low self esteem is what I diagnose here) So...till then I'll just lurk around and come home to knitting paradise where the weather suits my clothes.
