Does anyone recognize this pattern?

Granny was knitting this when she passed and we would like to finish it. I put in a few lifelines one pattern repeat down from the needle, thinking I would tink, or un-knit it and write down the pattern, of what she did, but I'm not even able to tink the first row of garter st because it seems to be backwards from how I knit... the front leg of each st goes to the left instead of the right like it does when I knit.

I've made a practice swatch and tried knitting garter st several different ways (through the back loop, through the front loop, twisting sts, etc.) trying to figure out how to reverse the st legs but I'm not having any luck. Any ideas? suggestions?
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

It looks like it might be feather and fan.

Thank you so much for your help!!!
I looked at your link and that certainly looks similar!
I knew you wonderful ladies would be able to help me.

Granny has 16 sts on her needle... 4 border sts on each side, so that takes away 8 sts, leaving 8 sts for the center panel.

And it looks like she k2tog once on each edge of the center panel between the borders (?), which would leave 4 sts for the (yo, k1) portion of the pattern? If I do that, I am decreasing 2 (the two k2togs at the edge) and increasing 4 [(yo, k1)x4] in the center... leaving me with 2 increase sts each row? But to me, it looks like she has more than 4 (yo,k1) "holes"... I see 6 or 8? I'm going to have to try knitting up a new swatch using this feather & fan pattern, now that I know what it is.

Also, I found on this site
http://abundantyarn.wordpress.com/2010/03/22/ways-of-knitting-part-1-introduction-to-stitch-mount/
that if I knit by bringing the working yarn around my needle clockwise (instead of counter clockwise), it changes the mount of the sts, and the front leg goes left instead of right. So, I am making progress, thanks to you all...
gotta love the www
