I decided to pick up the needles after several years off and discovered I have several projects started that I have no patterns/instructions for. I hope that some of you will be able to help me get back on my feet and figure out how to finish some of these projects. I have attached a picture of the biggest one. Bottom edge is 60 inches and I have competed 16 inches and don't know where to go next.

Welcome...wow that's pretty. I hope someone can help you. I'm also returning to knitting after about a 30 year lay off : )

Hello and welcome I have come back to knitting also after being away for about 20 years. It looks like you are making a blanket, and you used the basket weave stitch in light pink. It is very pretty... I do love the looks of the basket weave. I have made several dish cloths with that pattern.

It looks like a scrappy sampler to me. You could look at dishcloth patterns at www.knittingpatternscentral.com , pick one you like and do that across the next section or sections until it's the size you want it to be. Hope that helps. in some ways it is easier not have to follow a pattern - just make it like you want! now you're a designer.

What you have done is working up nicely. It looks like you may have been trying out different stitch patterns. Don't see why you couldn't just pick another stitch for the next section and so on til it is the size you want. You can find stitch patterns on several sites, lion brand being one of them.

I think it would look very pretty if you repeated the pink and blue enough times to make it longer than the 60" width for a nice big 'ghan and then end with that multi yarn and beginning color. And if you don't have enough pink and blue do that find another color to put in between them perhaps. So far I think its very pretty.

That's is exactly what I was going to suggest. I make many items choosing my pattern of stitches from my stitch library book.

Just a thought - do you have more yarn that was put away with the project? Maybe lay it all out on the bed, and arrange the colors before re-starting the knitting.
and as another knitter suggested, be sure to continue the same edge on both sides - that color, all the way around, will tie everything else together.
It will be wonderful if you have enough yarn to make it a large afghan, it looks like it will be really comfy and cuddly. Nice work and colors!!
