All I know is that if you are looking to remove the color completely then I would use peroxide...it is easier on the yarn than Clorox but still completely removes the dye...use q-tip or tooth brush to apply to small areas(make sure it soaks the yarn) let it set for a little while and then rinse out...repeat if necessary...for the whole item just put in sink or bowl and completely soak it in the peroxide let set for a bit then rinse and repeat if necessary...when you are ready to rinse test on small spot and let sit a bit longer if necessary to get the color out...(just like you would do when bleaching your hair lol)hope this helps...

remove color from yarn that bled.

I think it was here but not sure.
Googled the question but cannot find anything.
On "Bones" Monday night, the new intern used an embarrassing amount of pineapple and pineapple juice to clean the flesh off the bones and remove the staining from a dead body that had been thrown down a well.

Thanks for info. I need to spot de-dye a piece of gorgeous embroidery my DW made for me that I got wet and the blue ran into the white. She was crushed and furious as she'd wanted to enter it in competition. The yarn is Zehpyr 1/2 marino and 1/2 silk. It never dawned on me it would run :-(

Glad to know that. Is Zehpyr the name or the brand?

Zephyr is the brand. http://www.yarn.com/product/jaggerspun-zephyr/

It is beautiful and the silk gives it the most gorgeous sheen. I haven't knitted with it yet, it's so expensive for me, but we use it for tablet weaving and embroidery. My banner is done in Bayeux tapestry stitch and it is just gorgeous - I'm so sad I let the yarn bleed.

My mouth is watering at all the talk about pineapple. Since I do Low Carb, sugary fruit is not on my food list.
However, I bought a ripe pineapple in anticipation of doing some dye removal like on BONES!
Now I just have to "bite-the-bullet" and eat the whole thing! ;-) ;-) ;-)

The workers in pineapple factories have to wear rubber gloves because the papian(sp) enzyme in pineapple will erode their hands. I remember a doctor who tried that enzyme on excessive scar tissue but don't remember a favorable outcome for that experiment.

Scars are best eliminated or decreased by using Vitamin E oil on them. Apply twice daily. Takes a while but it does worl.
My oldest grandaughter had a horrendous case of Chicken Pox. There were scars all over her body. I used the Vit E oil from gelcaps and a Q-Tip to apply it. She is now in her late 30s and had only 1 scar left.
No, it did not take this long to be rid of them. They were gone in a few months. She had the Chicken Pox when she was 7 yo.

Don't forget the dye collector sheets when dampening any fabric with some fibers that are not dyed next to those that are extremely dyed. There is never a guarantee as red work creators can tell you that one won't get bleeding issues. As usual all I can say is to have a sample first to try anything on before doing it to the finished fiber--how I could assess silk as to its ability to be washed prior to making a garment that would need frequent cleaning (sweat salts destroy silk fibers).
