Maybe I should have paid more attention in Home Economics back in jr. high school.........I was just handed probably 200 or more brand new patterns and some of the clothes are absolutely gorgeous......you know, the kind that you'd love to be able to wear but could never spend the money that it would cost to get it in a store. Not sure how expensive these kind of clothes would be, but it's not the kind of clothes I've ever seen in KMart, lol............not that there's anything wrong with KMart or Wmalt, I love those stores, but they don't have the best variety when it comes to plus size clothing...................hmmmmm, maybe I could just get someone on here to make them, and I would pay you of course, but wouldn't that be hard to do without me actually being there with you.....you know, me, you and your tape measure, lol......

I don't think you could afford it. Try taking a sewing class through your local community college. I am a seamstress, but I never make myself clothes. As mother to an autistic child, the uniform is t-shirts and jeans.

I just made 14 tops or dresses for my granddaughters and one matching dress (American Girl doll). Follow the pattern and you can always go on-line if you run into any difficulties or we can help you here. Where did you get 200 patterns from...may I ask?

I sew clothes for friends and family, but I do need to do regular fittings. Don't think it would be possible to make something by email :) Unless you were a true size whatever, and the design wouldn't need any adjusting.

Look for a seamstress in your area. Try going to the nearest store which sells fabric and ask the clerk if they know anyone who sews. I'm sure there will be someone who is looking to make some Christmas money. You might try a store which sells sewing machines also. They are likely to know someone. You might ask the local senior center if you can put up a card on their community board asking for someone to sew for you. Just your phone number would be safe enough to leave. Good luck

yes, that's a good idea.........i love the idea of helping someone else to earn some extra money (especially when I know they really need it)........this might sound weird, but.......i love 'helping' people (and I've helped people financially on occasion too).....I just want to 'know in my heart' that they are truly appreciative of the help they're getting when it's coming from me:)

I have a friend who was doing some, lol....late spring/summer cleaning, I guess is what you'd call it.........heck I think I'll put some of them on Amazon and offer some type of buy one get one free...there's even a pattern for a gorgeous wedding gown....so many pretty patterns.....I think I might look at one of the patterns for a child's top or something similar, where it wouldn't be as hard as an adult's outfit, at least I'm thinking it won't be as hard, lol, but.............I figure heck if I can't knit a top for myself, maybe I can sew one.......but I'm a goof anyway....what do I know..........

Do what I do; look at some gorgeous pattern and say to myself, "I couldn't do that in a million years" and just carry on looking at gorgeous things.
I can do simple crafts quite well, it's when it gets complicated that I just throw up my hands and leave it to the experts.

omg Karen, go to your local fabric store and see if anyone there teaches sewing. I did this with my daughter. I found a lady who taught at her home for 2 to 3 hours one night a week for $10. She had us make a night gown. I was so surprised with how easy it is. I remember in Home Ec when I was a kid thinking it was so difficult. We made the night gown over 4 classes. In between at home I made an apron then PJ bottoms and afterwards shorts and a dress. Now I can adjust many of my own clothes. I am now looking to adjust a full length wool coat that I have from late 1980's. It is double breasted but had huge shoulders. I bought a book on tailoring at a thrift store so I hope the results will be good
