I just completed this pair of socks for my mother. They are acrylic, baby yarn. The pattern is a mix of pieces from the book The Sock Knitter's Handbook by Charlene Schurch and Beth Parrott. The stitch is called Crosshatch Lace.

I used a new Hiyahiya Sharp stainless steel 9 inch circular. I really liked using the 9 inch. This was the first pair I have done that way.

The 9 inches went faster for me after a bit of learning curve. These were size US 2 (2.75'm). I have knitted using magic loop (did not like), dpn and most recently, 2 circulars. This was pretty fast. But, I think if I were making a small sock, it wouldn't have worked. This was 36 stitches in a #2 yarn. A medium sized sock.
