Im having a hard time with is sock heel.

hoping someone can help. ok here goes.

row 1- Sl 1 purlwise with yarn in back k1 rep from. does this mean
sl every other one?

also row 2- sl 1purlwise with yarn in front, purl to end. also
does this mean sl every other too.
or do i just sl one and then just purl all the way across.

this is my first time trying to make a sock with a heel

The slipped sts on the front will cushion the heel. Do not slip on the back EXCEPT that first st.

You are going to pick up sts on the two edges later. It's MUCH easier and neater to pick up along a slip st edge than a knit and purl edge. This works great for sweater necklines and cardigan fronts, too.
