Wow, a stunning display of Mother Nature at her best. Cheers me up to see such pretty colours , as today would have been my late dads 73 rd birthday. And he loved his garden and flowers. Thank you.

They are beautiful, they remind of when I lived in Blackheath on the Blue Mountains. We had a lot of Rhododendrons growing in the yard, and there used to be a Rhododendron festival up there.

Wow! They are stunning! Ours are just budding. But our bush, which is over 60 years old, got severely damaged during our bad winter. Half of it died. We cut out all the dead, which was most of the middle of the bush, and are nursing the rest. Hoping we can keep it! It was huge and full and beautiful! Here's hoping it will recover!

JanetLee You are really making me home sick. With your 80 degree temps they must all be coming on like gang busters this year.

Really am partial to the Bumble Bee hybrids (neighbor had the lavender version). Your pinks can grow to giant heights like the one near where I stayed that was well over fifty feet high and was spectacular every year. Goes to show you don't always need to dead head them to keep them beautiful.

Our lilacs are in full bloom with the Torch Light Parade tonight--the cutest baby picture last night on the news was an infant with her tiara on with a lavender satin covered foam infant chair and her lilacs all festooned around her like she was the future Lilac Day Princess--ahhhh!

Just give it lots of acidic fertilizer since its been established and extra watering this year--they get damaged in Seattle as well during horrid ice storms but can come back flushed in a couple of years. Keep in mind they set their buds from last years growth when pruning (use to wait until they set their next years buds before I pruned).

Magnificent! Are they early this year?
Some hybrids can bloom a little later (like the purple Bumble Bees) but otherwise the others bloom this time of the year in Seattle. Ours came on early with the hot spell we had for a couple of days last month so are all gone.

There is a periwinkle hybrid that people consider "blue" since that's as close as the hybridist can get them--like blue roses.
