Hi Everyone:
Well, after knitting about three rows using my circular needle on a baby's blanket (Red Heart) Baby Cloud, blue, I decided to rip it out because as you can see in the picture it was tangled somehow I there was no way to fix it. This is for a newborn baby should I cast off with 100 stitches? I'm thinking that would be good enough...also want to know where I could get appliques with initials on them, I want to have them on alphabe building blocks and sew them on one corner of blanket the baby's initials are AJ and that is what we all call him, he is olur church members little baby..

((((((((( Not sure I'm reading you last sentence right? Did you mean "Is there no way to fix it? ..........Right?
********* I'm guessing you have your stitches twisted and at this point, fixing it isn't possible in the frogging sense = impractical...read on.... )))))))))))))

((((((((( Okie, it's possible to twist stitches in row work, etc. Heck, you only have three rows done and they're twisted. Here's my answer:

Don't CO, just pull them off off your needle and pull out the yarn for a rewind; Final answer! LOL!! ))))))))

I'm thinking that would be good enough...
((((((( CO isn't necessary = Work; Pulling the needle out of the live stitches is all you have to do = rewind and start over.
******* Note, when restarting, pull all your stitches down to facing the same way on the needle; If they twist again in process, be careful; Watch this close on row one. As you build more height, it will be more obvious that they're NOT twisted, but that first row can sneak up on you and a twisted (around the needle) stitch will appear and you may work it in unaware, perhaps. )))))))))

Thanks and yes I messed up so I ripped it out and cut it. I'm using Red Heart Baby Clouds which can be difficult but I like the feel of it. Yes, I was using the circular needle wrong. I know that now. I won't give up I'm not a quitter but I'm new to all the abbreviations you used also, CO? Anyway, I will check out some more videos they are useful too. You sound like you really know your stuff so thanks again.

Thanx glad I made someone laugh, I put it away for tomorrow and if I can't get it then I guess I will have to buy two large needles and do it the way I'm used to.

I am a relatively new knitter (4 years). I use the circular needles when I am making a project with a lot of stitches. At first I tried to cast on to the circular needles but couldn't do it, so now I cast on to a straight needle and then start my knitting with the circular. Good luck. Don't get frustrated - put it aside and come back to it!

I like using circulars for any knitting project that has more than 100 stitches cast on even for a flat project. I do not have to worry that the stitches will fall off when I turn or put it down. Try again and see if it will not go right.

I have pulled projects apart simply because I do not like how they are working up; starting again is a good idea. Your yarn might be difficult to use but persevere. The results will be worth it!

Baby Clouds makes a very nice baby blanket - just a little harder to knit in the beginning as it is not a real smooth yarn. Sometimes I cast on and knit the first few rows on long straight needles then switch to the circular but still have to watch for twisting around the needles on the first couple of rows.

Yes, Mahalo, I checked out the sites and got another cute idea.
Sew on a bear applique and iron on the intials on the bears bib! Maybe, I will probably change my mind a few times before I settle. The sites are great!

I would cast on first row on a straight needle, than knit to the circular needle

One more quick thought. You might find a longer cable would help. for a blanket I'm guessing maybe a 32 in or 40?

That's how we learn...rip it out & start it over. I don't even own straight needles unless you want to count my dpns. I knit everything on circs. I find them more comfortable & easier to maneuver. We want to see the blanket when you are done.

Good Morning. Adorable little angels.
And let me also say "been there done that". Yes BAby Clouds works up so soft. Great blanket.
Here is my hint for "finding the first row". I tie small colored yarns on the first row. It is easy to see them and to remind you which way it should be facing, I only use cirs, no more straight needles. Well except for DPN.
Can't wait to see this blanket finished.

I've used baby clouds only once. I had such a hard time with that yarn!! Finally turned it into a cocoon for a new born. Maybe my needle size was too small...or .something. Someone post, please, what they've used that yarn for...and what needle size. Once in a while it's on sale and....
