Hello Knitters,
I am a new knitter and am trying to knit the infinitude scarf. I am using a circular needle that is 36 inches. I cast on the 240 stitches very loosely and the first round went fine. As I got into the rows the stitches are grabbing/sticking to the plastic cord of the circular causing me to have to push the work hard to move the stitches. I've never had this trouble with fewer stitches. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

You could try wiping down the plastic cord or try putting a little furniture polish on it----it may have gotten some residue on it.

I always have the opppostie problem of the stitches holding up sliding from the cord to the bamboo needle -- I usually loosen up my tension a bit and it works out better.

That also works if wood or bamboo needles get sticky. But read the label. Some furniture polish doesn't contain wax. You'll need one that does. Another thing I've seen on Youtube is rubbing crochet hooks to eliminate the squeak with glycerin soap and then rinsing off. This also helps lubricate.

Use wax paper to rub down your needles and cord. Just like on the slide when we oldies were kids. It cleans and helps the glide

Ammm.... it could be the number of stitches. When you have it really tight - all cord covered with dense stitches - it would be like that. You could try a longer cord.
If this is the case trying to make the cord smoother won't help much - you have a lot of traction going on between the stitches.
And, of course, it could be just the quality of the cord itself, who knows...
