I got Araucania Ruca yarn (sugar cane) in a hank from Tues.Morning. It has at least 6 ends and will not easily come off hank. At $5.99 I think it is a waste of my time to try to wind the stuff. Any ideas what I should do?

I hate this! I have constant problems with Homespun, and spend more time untangling than knitting. Since I am a little obsessive-compulsive, I find I have to untangle the yarn, which is what I would do in your case, and then weave the ends together as I knit. Is it worth it? Only if you love the yarn.

I would work on untangling it while watching TV. Knots happen, but they may be why you were able to buy it at that price; Webs was selling it for much more: http://www.yarn.com/product/webs-knitting-yarns-araucania-ruca-multi/

It depends on what you plan to knit with it. I bought some sock yarn one time from Michael's that was in 5 pieces. I just threw it aside as I didn't want to join or weave in ends for socks.

If you have at least 6 ends, could it be from cutting the piece that holds the hank together.

I would just untangle it a little at a time.

I had someone send me a hank to untangle for them, there were more then two ends since they cut the yarn when cutting the piece holding it together. Once I untangled it (and it was a very thin yarn) I ended up with 3 balls. Then wound it into cakes and mailed it back to her.

I got this same yarn from Tuesday Morning with the same results. I threw it to the side. I'll go back to it again later while watching tv.

I had a 400 ish yds of fingering yarn that REALLY got into an ENORMOUS tangle when I tried to roll it into a ball. The best way for me to untangle it was to lay it flat on a table and gently spread it out, so I could see the end and then very carefully follow it!!!!!!!!

Sound like the 194-'s when my mother could only buy yarn in hanks and had to wind it at home till after ww2 the winders in dept stores they would wind it for a small fee of course , she and I who usually had to help wind it at home got pretty good at for a 8-10 yr old we were so glad when yarn came wound nicely in usable skeins. yes i am not young now and appreciate the lovely way it comes now days or the kind I buy does anyway
