Could anyone tell me what the above sauce is like please? We don't like curry or very highly spiced food but don't mind a certain amount of chilli and also sweet and sour so I wondered if we would like the sauce above. I have seen recipes with chicken and Terryaki Sauce and cannot afford to throw food away if we don't like it.

It is soy with sweetness, citrus, chilli flavours. Look up a teriyaki marinade recipe to give you an idea rather than buying readimade. Then, you can make a little and if you don't like it you don't have a whole bottle of the stuff.

Here are the ingredients in Teriyaki Sauce
soy sauce
brown sugar
ginger
garlic
honey
sesame oil
Mirin ~ a sweet Japanese rice wine
If you don't have mirin, you can use sherry with a pinch of sugar added to it.
water
cornstarch

This should give you some idea of the flavour....

Teriyaki sauce is a sweet soy based sauce. I like it in small doses, but then I don't much like sweet sauces on my meat. Grandkids like it, though. Give it a try -- not much to lose in my opinion. I like to try new stuff -- sometimes I like it, sometimes not. You can buy teriyaki sauce already bottled up for you in the Asian section of the grocery store.

It tastes like sweet soy sauce.

I don't use much whenever I use it. Too much is just too much.

Don't know about UK but maybe if there is a Chinese restraunt near. See if you can just order a terryaki chicken wing just to try it.
In the US, Panda Express lets you taste an entrée before selecting.
But it may just be cheaper to buy the smallest bottle a grocery store.... remember don't use much.

I agree with DHobbit, if there is a Chinese or Japanese restaurant nearby, see if they offer a sample, or just buy a small serving. Alternately, if your grocery store sells hot items, sometimes you can pick up a small packet like fast food ketchup. The taste doesn't change much when it's heated.

If you can find this where you live try Yoshidas Teriyaki sauce. It's pretty much a kitchen staple in the Pacific Northwest USA. People use it as a marinade or barbeque sauce. Yes, it has sodium but sometimes you just have to live and eat .
