Great idea. I love animals. Thanks for the poems. They are helping my heart heal. I had to say goodbye to my beloved little Sam in August last year on his 15th birthday. Very hard as we'd been together since he was almost one. Have wonderful memories of our life together and am blessed to have had him in my life. Thinking about my little boy, affectionately known as the "bag boy" still makes me laugh and smile. Set a bag on the floor and Sam was there immediately to inspect the contents and would wake out of a deep sleep whenever he heard a bag rattle softly. On the flip side I also have an 8yr. lab/shepherd mix, 80 plus pounds, who thinks he's a lap dog. He of course is spoiled rotten too. His name is Rocky. When Rocky first met Sam he kept tapping Sam (about a 40 pound dog) on the shoulder because he wanted Sam to play with him. Sam didn't like the tapping and promptly "rolled" Rocky across the width of the big back yard we had and he landed in the flower bed and Sam walked back to the house with a big grin on his face! LOL!!
Sam was the tough one and Rocky is the wimp. You could run the vacuum cleaner right up next to Sam and he wouldn't move while Rocky is gone at the first sight of it or the mention of the name Matilda (what we named the vacuum)!! LOL!!! They both in their own ways have enriched my life and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Great to hear from dog lovers like myself. I currently have 6 dogs. I have an 18 year old Dachshund, a 9 year old dachshund, a 3 yr old dachshund, a 3 yr old doxie/chihuahua, and a 17 yr old Tibetan spaniel. I sew for them all -- they wear harness vests all of the time. Love my animals.

Wow....you have been blessed to have your dogs for so many years. I go for the big dogs, so we have to love our dogs for a bit shorter time, but cherish everyday we have with them.

Wow, I wrote a whole post and it just disappeared, so here I go again.
I have two Whippets, Merlin and Kaley both rescues. I have had this breed for over 30 years. Merlin and Kaley have been with me over 9 years, Kaley was severly abused. She is still a little skittery but is doing much better. Their ages are approximately 15 for Merlin and 13 for Kaley. I have had Whippets over 30 years. I love the breed.

Hi! Your greys are precious!! How did you get her to wear the hat? I think I must be crazier than most because I have 17 Chihuahuas ( 5 are newborns ), a Persian cat, 2 cockatiels, 4 Angel fish, 2 catfish and a German Shephard. I have had dogs all my life and there is NO way to take the loss but yet we have to go through days and days without them cuz we can't do anything else. There is no formula and for me there wasn't even anyone to lessen the pain. It is true, it does fade some with time. Keeping busy helps but the nights are hard. Keep the wonderful memories alive and talk about them often, she IS in your heart forever.... Hugs to you.

OOOOOps, got the Whippets mixed up with the Greys, sorry. I had Greys years ago, they are so human like, raise their kids with dicipline and praise as we do. Totally awesome breed. I am here should you need someone to talk and talk and talk to about your other half afterwards. Been there too many times and yet do it again, can't help myself, I love those furry kids too.

I can't resist. My husband and all three of my kids are animal people. I have four dachshunds, 1 doxie/chihuahua, and a Tibetan spaniel. My daughter has a shelter rescue, a boxer mix, and another medium sized dog. My older son has a yorkie and a Jack/Rat/Huahua (she is really nice); my yougest has a boxer, a boxer mix and a pug. At Christmas, we had my three kids, 5 grandkids, and 10 dogs. I really liked having all of them. I dress all of my dogs in harness vests, so I may have to post a pic or two.

I am over the top when it comes to our two dogs - a Pembroke Welsh Corgi (Dozer, age 5) and an American Cocker Spaniel (Cooper, age 13) - both rescues. They have their own blog at http://www.dozerandcoop.blogspot.com and I must have a zillion pictures of both. My husband is resigned to the fact that these two rule our life - but they add so much and I adore them to pieces!

Oh my gosh, you ladies have such darling kids. Perfect size for huggin and cuddlin. Mine are very tiny, most anyway, but just as cuddly. My big girl is 6 lbs. and my tiny is one and a half lbs. The tiny is the watch dog and the big is the mother. I have 17 chihuahuas ( 5 are just a few weeks , a Persian cat, 2 cockatiels, 2 cat fish, 4 Angel fish and a German Shephard. My Shephard is German bred and a female who weighs 122 lbs. and on the thin size. She is very scarry if you come in uninvited...invited, a BIG BABY. I have no camera for taking pics nor would know how to anyway. I am computer illiterate. Give them all a big hug for me, I LOVE animals!!!!

Our dogs are also our furkids and my husband has made the bold the statement that he likes them better than most people. I have always been a dog-nut and was blessed with a husband who is just as if not a bigger dog-nut than I am. We have 3 schnauzers Scotty McTavish, Kassi McKenzie (called Kassi Ann by my husband when she's bad- my middle name) Murphy McGregor and 1 yorkie Tyger Bear (our second crew - the first crew Cocoa Puff and Teddy Bear one schnauzer and one yorkie -they passed in 08 and 09). Of course the breeds are the reason I was given the handle of Schorkiemom. :)
The 4 are a handful - very active and all the same age within a few months of each other. Kassi and Murphy are brother and sister from the same litter. Life would not be very rich without them, though. :-D

OMG what beautiful kids you have! Schnausers are very intelligent, enough to out smart us. Kinda stubborn? My friends was. I took to Chihuahuas when my oldest daughter had allergies and Dr. couldn't find them. Told me to get a Chihuahua and it would take the allergy but not get it himself. Funny, it worked! Another reason I love the breed, there are no illnesses that come with the breed. Also they fit in pockets so can go everywhere (almost). NO in stores and eateries. Motels will let them in where bigger dogs they won't. I am with your husband, I too care for mine much more than people. They never have bad days where they say hurtful things in anger or hit because they are angry. They are loyal and always loving.

We have a Border Collie, Lillie. She is our 4th dog in 30 yrs. First, a Black Lab, Missy she passed at 15. Then Bandit, a mix between Husky & Shepard, she had to be put to sleep. Mocha was a rotweller passed in her sleep. Now we have Lillie. The most gentle of all. Great fun!!

Hi again. I am at present the apartment for two of my Chihuahuas. I have a zippered sweatshirt on and they crawled in to cuddle. My tiny one nearly lives in there when I am home. I get so many at times they crawl into the sleeves, that is not comfy for me but how do you say no? This sweatshirt is permanently stretched out in the front. Looks funny when none are in. Gotta go to work, have a splendid day!

I just got a Morkie. He is Toto. l.7 pounds and almost 4 months old. He is pictured with me at side. I love him to pieces. We are just getting to know each other. He comes to me when I call him. He has only had his name for 3 days. He is a bundle of joy to this retired widow.

He is priceless. And I bet you can't be happier.
Those fuzzy bundles of love are Angels gifts to us. Does he play? And not to scare you, we had a kitty last week swallow yarn.. BIG problem. So make sure that curious little guy can't get into your yarn.
Have fun and keep us posted on all he learns.
Linda Granny to 7 greyhounds, bassett, dashhund, and my precious old gal a collie mix.

Thank you about the yarn. Every thing is to high for him except the shag area rug in my living room.. He loves it and I'm watching him every minute He does pull a small piece out once in a while but I'm right on it. He plays wonderful but very light toys. I'm getting out the ankle socks next.
