You may remember that I knit the entire back piece of an Aran sweater for granddaughter and realized I grabbed the wrong yarn for it and didn't have enough for the entire sweater. I started over in the correct yarn and here's the finished sweater along with a picture of the rejected piece. I do not want to rip out that piece, so I am going to make a throw pillow to use it. I will probably have to "steek" to make it the correct size and pick up stitches to make a lining. I'll figure it out as I go.

Lovely knitting, wrong yarn as well as correct. I would be inclined to take the wrong piece down to the armholes, knit in the twisted rib matching the welt in a straight line and make a "housewife" opening for your cushion (pillow).. It will make a beautiful talking point. I did something similar with a complex intarsia design I got fed up with. It turned out very well.

Good suggestion for finishing this. I do want to remove the ribbing and I'll cut that and unpick a row or so. The other end will be ripped back and picked up for the back piece. I'll probably do the opening you suggest. Thank you.
