Theme sweaters

Before I learned to knit I had seen sweaters that had pictures on them. They came in kits from a company that sold them in the back classified sections of craft and needlework magazines in the '80s. The sweaters could have a holiday scene with snowmen and raindeer, etc. or even a school theme with kids and a schoolbus on a road.Does anyone remember the name of the company that made these?

Mary Maxim or knit-o-graph?
Did knit-o-graph sell kits or patterns to make these sweaters? I don't know about Mary Maxim, I was not aware of them then.
Wow! Those are some links. I will be busy checking them out. Thank you.
Thank you everyone for all your responses and time. I do know about intarsia, have done it a time or two. The Sweaterscapes sweaters are like the ones I saw in the '80s. I even have 2 of their books. I also found sweaters called Storybook knits that are like and could possibly be the ones I am thinking of. I found out that sweaters like these have a following, there are "Ugly Sweater Parties". The sweater can be very elaborate in the design, too much for todays' styles. I am glad to have all these great links from everyone. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
