I think this is the first time I've ever had a UFO, as I usually want to get things done ASAP...but such was not the case with these. These languished on my needles until last week when I decided it was finally time to finish them. It took me the better part of the week to finish them, but I'm over the moon with how they turned out.

I've knitted quite a few pairs of these over the years, all in various colors, but never in a cream color. This particular yarn is a blend of alpaca & mohair...they feel too heavenly on my feet but the yarn was a major PITA to knit with as it continually split. Definitely not some you want happening when doing traveling stitches!

Now that they're finished I can go back to knitting, and felting, some slippers for myself.

Beautiful! Wonderful work. I do use the word "work" because these look like they took intense concentration. WOW!
Thank you! The hardest thing for me now is the chart itself. It used to be by the time I was half-way through the first sock I'd have the complete chart memorized. This made things so simple especially with interruptions, and it also meant I never really had to stop to check the chart. Now, living with the brain fog from COVID, the experience has completely changed. I can still get into a rhythm but it's definitely not the same.

And I don't see it as being work, more like a very deep meditation session. When I was a child, they thought I possibly had a brain tumor, but after examination the neurologist ruled that out. What he did tell my parents was that my mind never stopped working and that I needed to take up some sort of hobby/hobbies to keep my mind occupied. He also suggested that the more complicated the hobby, the better it would be for my mind as I would only be able to focus on one thing at a time. Needless to say, I did just about every trendy hobby that came down the pike during the late 60s and early 70s.

I didn't pick my knitting back up until after I turned 50, but I most definitely made up for lost time. I went down so many rabbit holes that I lost count. Luckily for me, this style of sock knitting was one of the things I unearthed after downloading a digital copy of Maria Erlbacher's book "Twisted Stitch Knitting". After knitting my first pair, not only was I in love with the finished product but also the process.
At times they can be ever so fiddly, but I get over that pretty quickly. The real issue is IF you have to frog or tink, because that's something you don't ever want to do...trust me!

I also shared these in one of the knitting groups on Facebook and the response has truly been overwhelming. Many people wanted the pattern, another person was certain it was a pattern from Ravelry which is no longer available. I explained that there is no pattern, only the chart I created for the stitch pattern. I'm presently in the process of cleaning it up so that I can share it there. If anyone here would like a copy of my chart, I would be more than happy to share it! Just LMK

If anyone is of a mind to, I just posted the chart for these on Facebook (in the "Knitters gonna knit" group) and I would be more than happy to share it here as well. Just let me know in a reply and I'll post it ASAP!

Oh, and I really want to "thank" everyone for the lovely comments. It's always nice to receive validation from people people who knit, as they are the only ones who truly understand what goes into something like these 🤗
