There are 2 topics of discussion in which everyone believes they are right, and everyone else is wrong - religion and politics.

Agree to disagree if you want to remain friends - you won't convince them, and they won't convince you to change opinions.

Jefferson and Adams became estranged when Jefferson lost to Adams in the 1800 Presidential election. That estrangement lasted for about 12 years.

I read the Alexander Hamilton biography by Ron Chernow recently and politics was just as contentious when our country was newly founded as it is today. I don't think it will ever change.

Two subjects I refuse to discuss with my husband are religion and politics. It seems to have worked; we're still married 45 years down the road.
