crochet/knit a long chain to "hook" behind her ankles (imagine a chin strap) this will hold the hats more tightly to her toes and be a little warmer-- another brilliant thing about you knitting these is that wiggling her toes is really good and the fun of making the faces move will encourage this

i did think of a strap, but the hats should stick to the coloured coating of the plaster. i am giving them to her tomorrow evening at visiting time
