two colour tuck stitch

I have the silver reed sk280 machine and have tried to do the two colours tuck stitch but it won't pick up the second colour. I have tried doing two colours for fairisle which worked so can't understand why it doesn't for the tuck stitch. I've followed the instructions in the manual so can't work out what I'm doing wrong. Help please.

Thanks. I've never done 2 colour tuck stitch before and could not understand what I was doing wrong. Will have to put the colour changer on my list of things that I want lol
