I love your vests. Thank you for showing the work in progress. It looks like a fun project. I will try to find a pattern. Thanks
Look for MITERED patterns.
Each square is worked as a unit, then you pick up stitches to join to make next squared. Half squares fill in to made even sides.
I tried to work a different pattern into each square for variety.
Did you see the designer's name and address in a previous post I made?

OH WOW!! Good for you! Did you use sock yarn or noro or what? I haven't been brave enough to try one of these yet.
I did use Noro , not the sox weight however. Worsted I think. DARN, why don't I save the labels?
The color combinations are so lush. Hard to pick what you like best.

Years ago..and I mean MANY years ago, If you mailed in your yarn labels you got free yarn..it's a hard habit to break. Now I include a label from the yarn on any gift that I knit..so that the recipient knows how to care for the item. I keep a label and log it into my "knitting diary"..so I remember what I made and what I made it from!
I do give yarn label with gifts.
I am normally so anal retentive about keeping things that I find it hard to believe I don't file the labels with patterns.
Thanks for the interesting info about the free yarn. Never heard that before.

Hi pfflyer, (I wonder how many of the younger gals know what pfflyers were? :?: ) I do!

Well, I looked all over KnitPicks and couldn't find the pattern. I then sent an e-mail to the designer, so hopefully I'll hear something from her. I did enjoy looking at KnitPicks though. They have some beautiful patterns. They have about 145 free patterns and something like 34 pages of $1.99 patterns. As far as I could tell every thing looked to be downloadable. I also Googled "mitered knitting pattern" or something similar and although there were a number of hits, the only one I saw that resembled your stitch was the Knitting at Knoons mitered afghan. I suppose someone who is adept at knitting could transform that free pattern into a vest -- not me!! -- but someone!
WOW! Finally someone who knows!!!!! I used it as my CB "handle" for years...... when I still had a CB.
I enjoyed looking thru the KnitPicks too. Had forgotten about it.
Will check out the Koons. It would be a spectacular afghan.
hope you get a positive response about the vest.

Well, I guess you have to be of a certain age to know about pfflyers!

Remember, it's Knitting at Knoon website!
Would you believe I just found the Knoon pattern in my files of
"afghans I might do"....and never will!If make it remember you you can vary your blocks by changing different rows form knits to purls or purls to knits to make patterns within the blocks.
Now I'd have to be a nikenerd or adidasadventurer or something niffty.

Hey, people! Here it is. Just click on download and the pattern is there. I also forgot to say that Dixie said that the company left out something in the published pattern.
Hate to tell you but that is NOT the pattern I used for vest!
Yours is for a sweater, not a vest.
My vest has MANY blocks in it.....will resend photo.
Same technique but different results!

pfflyer: Thanks for showing us your beautiful vests and begining an adventure that ended with our getting the pattern from the designer. Now, I'll admit I don't know the etymology of pfflyer. Any time you care to share, please do.

Back in the days....
pfflyers were a brand of athletic shoes....
known in those days as gym shoes.

First made by BF Goodrich in 1937.
Still made by different company, different styles.
"They run faster, Jump higher" was their slogan.
Good old fashioned black high tops!!!!!

I was the one who posted the original vest picture.
I took your class at Rainbow Yarns in G'town.
I did not want to share instructions without your permission.
I'm sure you have made many people happy by sharing.
I LUV my vests!
Compliments where ever I go.

My pattern says 50 oz...I checked the weight of Noro Kuyeron (which is what I used) and balls are 50 GRAMS, not oz.
I used 10 balls for reach of my vests.....making 5 1/2" sq.for size.
I knit VERY loosely...my notes say I used #5 needles.

Well, guess what ladies?! I got the pattern from Dixie Berryman for the mitered vest that pfflyer did!! She calls it sock yarn sweater but it's labeled mitered block sweater. I think someone is going to have to tell me how to get it on here, though. I don't think I'm supposed to add a pattern the way I do a picture?? The pattern is a pdf file and it's on my computer. Can anyone help me? I'm anxious to share this with all of you!
Myra
The vests are truly beautiful. I think the safest way to share without infringing on ropy rights is by sending through e-mail for personal use only. Having said that, would you be kind enough to make me a lucky recipient at: [email protected]
Thanks so much, Helga Spector
Dixie Berryman has a mitred sweater pattern AND a mitred vest pattern! Be sure you have the right one.
