I just have to say that I love this web site! Great way to meet new friends & we all have so much in common!

I would like to make the prayer shawls for our local nursing home & have a connection with evangelists that go weekly to the nursing home! I can't afford to buy a lot of yarn myself, so if anyone would like to donate unused yarn or if they have loved ones who pass away & have no way to dispose of their yarn, please don't throw it away! There are all kinds of ways to use this yarn up! I would also like to be able to make hats for cancer patients, which I have no connection for so if someone knows of a contact, please let me know! My e-mail is [email protected] Mailing address for shipping yarn is Marilyn Leuschke @ 312 Lakewood Dr. Hillsboro, Il. 62049 Thanks Marilyn

Marilyn, I have a knitting group that makes many different charity items. We get a good share of yarn donated from the local yarn shop. Many times people will bring in old yarn, left overs, even yarn purchased other places. They just hope someone will take it off their hands. The shop keeps a big bag in the back for these types of donations. Once every few weeks I stop by and pick up what they have. You might also join free cycle and put a request out there. I did that once and every now and then I will get a contact from someone asking me if I will still take yarn, it is free and all I have to do is pick it up.
