This is the finished sweater I got in a bag of yarn at the Goodwill store, with a finished front and part of the back. I did a ribbed neck, finished the back in the cable rope pattern as it was begun, and made the sleeves in a plain stockinette stitch. I thought of knitting a cable rope up the center of the sleeves, but decided the sweater pattern was "busy" enough and didn't need another cable pattern.

You did an awesome job and so glad that it fits perfectly too!! Sometimes it's hard to match up the same knitting tension, pattern, etc. that someone else started....you've done it perfectly. Hopefully, whoever started it can see their WIP now a finished and beautiful sweater.

Good for you -- I'm glad you rescued all those cables! I think many people would have frogged it for the yarn -- It is an honor to both you and the original knitter -- what a pleasure it will be to wear!

Take Joy,

I am thankful the sweater pattern was a simple one and not one of those complicated ones with 40 kazillion different stitches to worry about. In a case like that, I may have ripped it out and made something else. I also am pleased that I was able to finish it as the original knitter may have intended. I will never know that for sure, though.
