Hi! We are new to Knitting Paradise, and this is our first time using DAK8. We have designed a two color blanket pattern on DAK and we are trying to load it to our 965i. As we work through the steps (enter pattern number, 551 STEP, 1 STEP, "901" STEP..) the machine does not respond after waiting for the pattern to load (The green light does not indicate "ready"). We have the 09L cable for DAKCB59 connected, and we can move through the steps until the pattern is loaded. Does anyone have experience with DAK8 and a 965i? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Have you got the cable attached correctly to the machine, a friend had the plug upside down!!!! Also have you chosen the correct machine from the drop down list in designaknit, I think there are two options for the 965i, 965i and 965i special cable, whichever one you have chosen try the other option.

I found that the "stoplights" in DAK8 are different than in DAK7. At first I thought that my pattern had not loaded as well (I'm using a Studio 560), but when you move the carriage and start to knit, it all works fine. Try it without yarn first to see if this is what is happening with yours too.

'The symptoms you are describing are typical of communication problems between DAK and the Brother knitting machines. With DAK7, it often happened when the user entered the incorrect com port but with DAK8 that shouldn't be the case because the new program finds the com port itself automatically. Are you sure that you have the correct cable for the machine? I have looked on the DAK (UK) website and they don't list a cable 09L. If you are in the USA you should check with the USA dealer for advice. Another thing to check is the memory size of the 965i machine and the size of your pattern. If you do not have enough free memory then you might have to split the design and download it in two parts.

Cable number 5 is the interactive cable for Brother 965i. Your machine should be off until your computer tells you to turn it on. Then you do the download. 551, etc. When you put the 901 your 965i will tell you what number it was stored under 9xx. You should see a download scale showing that the pattern is downloading. If it was done correctly your computer will state the download is complete and your machine will come back to the ready state by beeping.
