I'm knitting the Morgan driving cap from knitty.com

It says to use 2 circ needles, and I am, but it's a real pain in the patootie!!! I'm wondering why not use DPNs instead...does anyone have any thoughts on this? I'd be very grateful for any insight and advice! It's my first attempt at a hat like this and using two circ needles at the same time. I don't use circ needles often and I'm fond of using DPNs.

I dont see why you cant use your dpn's, personally I think they are easier than 2 circulars (and I have tried them)

I often change methods (dpns, 2 circulars, magic loop) when knitting in the round. It depends on the project. So I see no reason that you can't use dpns.

One circular, two circulars, dpns .... all are a way to knit in the round... use what makes sense and works for you.
Sometimes there's a place where you might need more dpns than what are in a typical set, so a circular makes sense..... but those are raare....
It's good to try new ways of doing things and doing something in a new way is almost uncomfortable at first because it is unfamiliar so it takes giving something a solid, open-minded try
I've tried things that others rave about and decide they don't work for me... and vice-versa.

Double-points have been in use for centuries, long before circulars were invented. Of course you can use DP's!

I don't care for DPN's, but if that's what works for you go for it sounds like this person is more used to circs but she is not knitting it.

Thank you everyone! It's kinda what I thought but wasn't sure if maybe there wasn't a good reason for using two instead of DPNs that I just didn't see. I appreciate your input very much.

Use what's comfortable for you. I have used 2 circulars so much , even 2AATsocks and mittens, that now dealing with 4 or 5 (oh dear oh dear) needles is almost more than I can bear. Also, because I have used them so much, when I finish a section, I drop the needle, knowing it's going to be dangling there, waiting for me. Doesn't work so well with dpn's.

I too like DPN's or one circular to knit in the round. I am one of those that the magic loop takes away my "zen" in knitting, too fussy for me. I say go for your DPN's and enjoy knitting your project.

OOOO changing to dpn's sends chills up my spine. with circs you never have to chase a needle so why switch?

You can use any 'in the round' method you like. ...dpns, 2 circulars, or magic loop. They all do the same.

I totally agree that you can use double points if you prefer. If you are interested in learning how to use 2 circulars, Cat Bordhi's U tube video helped me tremendously. P.S. Happy day to you too!

With 2 circs you can knit two socks at a time down to the heel, then switch to dps to finish.

I've used dpn's for a long time. I tried to use two circulars recently because I had heard of it...but couldn't get the hang of it. I'm not sure how it works. Will try again. Also plan to try magic loop.
