Help! I have a pattern for an adorable, fluffy cocoon that I would crochet, and the perfect yarn that was at "clearance price" but I just don't understand the start of the pattern. Should I just start it as if it's for a cap (in the round)? If so, what would the measurements be? I would love to know if there is a video out there to get me started. Thanks for any help you can give me.

((((((( Send me the pattern in a private message and I'll look it over.....I've got a knit cocoon on now, circulars = 143 sts = LARGE (for twins? LOL! I'm looking over crochet ones, too.

I'm guessing you've answered your own question there; Yes, start it as if to make a crochet cap in the round.

Your measurements can be figured if they gave you a finished size in flat or circle measurement - or the size would could be figured in the gauge. Don't they give you a finished size in that pattern?

Imagine a baby going in there with some extra room. How wide is a baby is what you could imagine and a typical one is about 20" long.

I don't think there is a video, but you could surf for:

Cocoons can be made top down or bottom up.

The crocheted ones I've seen were made bottom up (increasing per pattern directions and in the crochet round, as you say.)

So, send me the pattern if you still need to.
