I'll be taking my 2 youngest back to college in August. One to Bloomington, IN and one to Denver. I'd love to visit some local yarn shops and I'm sure those of you who either live locally or have traveled to those towns know just where to go! I believe in Denver I'll be near the Westminster area? And of course, Bloomington is pretty small, but I'm told there are a number of nearby towns within a short driving distance. Would love suggestions!

I am only familiar with Indianapolis as a visitor. I have been to Mass Ave knitting several times. Huge selection but it is not on Mass ave.
Then there is one on the North side in the keystone mall area...on 82nd street. I haven't been there yet. Hope you find some in Bloomington

Not sure about right in Bloomington, but I am sure there are some nearby. If I hear of anything I will PM you as there is a fairly large fiber festival in Franklin IN June 6th that my daughter and I are attending so I will keep my ears and eyes open.

Wow Sherry I didn't know that shop existed. Thanks for the info.
Another note....how are you doing???[/quote

I feel bad that I don't know exactly where that is. My daughter has lived in Indy for 7 or 8 years but I don't always pay close attention to where we are going. They did have a parking lot! Lots of buttons and a wall of sock yarn.

I am doing ok. Taking my new Hormone Therapy..no bad side effects. I should know a little something later in August. For now, enjoying summer!
Hope all is well with you, too.

If you have ever read the Maggie Sefton murder/mystery books,
they take place around the Lambspun yarn shop in Ft. Collins.
Fun books, great yarn shop. Just like in the books.
Another great yarn shop is Shuttles,Spindles and Skeins in Boulder CO. Well worth the visit. Bet you don't come out empty handed.

A Knitted Peace in Littleton, Colorado (http://www.aknittedpeace.com/) and Colorful Yarns in Centennial, Colorado (http://www.colorfulyarns.com/) are terrific. Great knitting groups at both places! We'd love to meet you!

Knitmap.com is a wonderful resource for travelers. Denver has 13 yarn shops. A Knitted Peace and Lamb Shoppe are both very highly rated, as is a shop called Knit Knack in Arvada. I live about two hours from Denver and I've never shopped for yarn there. Maybe I need to plan a day trip.

Bloomington is located in the beautiful Brown County area of Indiana. I have heard good things about the downtown shop. Suggest you google for the area. There are two others in nearby area. Sheep Street in Morgantown and The Clay Purl in Nashville. See http://www.ourbrowncounty.com/0911s4.htm. if that link does not work google "knitting in Brown County Indiana" Do you like winery's? Just outside of Bloomington is the Oliver Winery with beautiful grounds, and there are others in driving range. I lived in Colorado and loved it and all it has to offer; but, this area has lots of beauty too. Google for commerce in the vicinity. Indianapolis is farther to the north although we have several nice knit shops, both metro and in Zionsville and Noblesville. If you need names and addresses I would be happy to compile a listing of those located in the Indianapolis area for you. Have a great trip! Carlene

I was in Denver last month and found a shop Wild Yarn on 21st St in downtown Denver that was marvelously worth the several visits there. The yarn is all from the area--Am West incl CO SD etc. The owner even helped me by finding a book that included info I needed.

Well worth the trip. If you go enjoy!!

Right on! Go Hoosiers! And I've been to both stores. Both are very nice.

There are two yarn stores in Bloomington: Yarns Unlimited and In a Yarn Basket. Yarns unlimited is downtown within walking distance from the campus. In a Yarn Basket is a little farther out. Go Hoosiers!
