Opinions please on the best pom pom maker you have used. I want to purchase one, but would like feedback first.

Thanks
I have just bought a set of two small Clover brand. I watched a couple of YouTube demonstrations first before I bought them on eBay. Haven't got them yet but they seemed to be superior to the cheaper copies

I use my fingers or hand. I wrap the yarn around my hand about 25 to 50 times (depending how little or how big you want it) then cut a piece of yarn, lay it flat, then take the yarn off my hand and then give it a little twist and then lay it on the piece of yarn then tie as tight as you can.

The clover ones are very nice and work easily. But if you want a variety of sizes, they are pricy!

I've never been able to figure out how this Lionbrand one works:

My favorite is this type:

The Clover brand are the easiest to use, but the inexpensive Boye ones that are little plastic circles work well too, with more effort. (You have to absolutely fill the circle with yarn to get a dense pompom, and I have to thread the yarn on a tapestry needle to continue wrapping as the middle of the circle fills.) If you are going to make a lot of pompoms, invest in the Clover. I don't make that many pompoms, I just love gadgets.

I have several pompom makers. Don't use any of them.

My favorite is 2 fingers for a small, 3 fingers for a larger etc. If I need a really large pompom I have been known to use a book, cd case or anything that will give me size I want.

I have the full set of Clover and prefer them. I used to do the cardboard method, but have found there's less "grooming" of the pom poms when using the Clovers. Not a huge issue, unless you're making lots of them or are in a hurry.

My pom poms are made with a hairpin lace harp. Choose the size needed, wrap 50 to 100 or whatever times you need. Then with the sewing machine, sew down the center
of the wraps, back stitching or tying threads. Remove from the harp, roll up, tie with a surgeon's knot in the center. (surgeon's knot is to wrap the tie twice and tighten down, then wrap and knot again. It will not loosen, but you can still tighten it further. This doesn't need a finger to hold it down ex:gift package.
You can either leave them looped, or cut the loops.
