The crochet throw I want to make give the yarn as...

Red Heart® “Super Saver®” (Art. E300) solid
color 7 oz (198 g), 364 yd (333 m); multi color
and print 5 oz (141 g), 244 yd (223 m), flecks 5
oz (141g), 260 yd (238 m) skeins: 8 skeins 305
Aspen Print A

Red heart is very difficult to find in the UK. Does anyone know what a good alternative would be? The hook size is 6mm.

Thank You

I suggest you look at local aran yarns that have approximately the same gauge and hook size indicated on the ball band. http://blog.loveknitting.com/yarn-weights-translated/

Actually, since it's for a throw, and throws aren't exactly the same as a fitted garment, just use whatever yarn and appropriate hook for the yarn and make it!

Red Heart is an acrylic "worsted weight" (your 10 ply) yarn. Lately, I've noticed the yarn is getting closer to a dk (8 ply) yarn, though.

Hope this helps.
