Today I went to a yarn shop located in LaGrange Il to purchase a set of needles. I was looking at yarn to use for preemie hats for a NICU. After a conversation with the women who was helping me, they brought out 4 beautiful blankets to add to my donations. I could not believe the generosity of this shop owner. I can't let this go unnoticed in the too often callous world. If you are ever in LaGrange Il, visit this wonderful shop.

Can you give us the name of the shop? I live in Chicago and would be happy to patronize a shop like that. On the 2015 Chicago yarn crawl I met a group of women from the western suburbs who were making a day of visiting LYS's in the city. They were having a great time, asking for restaurant recommendations for lunch, etc. Their "home" LYS might have been in LaGrange.

In the past couple years several yarn stores in my area have closed. One I don't miss since I decided to boycott her 2012, but the other came as a sadness for me. We have one store left, and I try to support them as much as possible. They are very accommodating. Today while I was there, I was allowed to "test drive" the yarn butler they had in stock. That's not like likely to happen in a mega store.

The Shop is called: The Idea Studio
515 S La Grange Rd, La Grange Il
They have wonderful yarn, beads, and buttons. Large work area as well. Very nice shop. I understand 7 less yarn shops on Chicago area yarn crawl this year. Very sad.

So nice to hear about your LYS & your support of it. I also support my LYS 100% as they are top notch on customer service, I can go there anytime for help, classes galore & oh, the lovely yarn I can see & touch bf I buy. Doing a Kal now, a shawl I probably would not have ever picked out myself but it's turning out to be fun & different & you meet the nicest knitters.

Impatiently waiting for a new LYS to open in our town. Expected to open in September. I'm truly hoping that it will be a friendly shop. I am lucky enough to have 4 close by, 2 to a town about 15 mins west of here, 2 about 25mins to the east. Except in the summer when that shirt commute can easily turn into an hour or more due to traffic. So I haven't visited either in a while.

I got VERY excited for just a second there.......then I got to the IL..........my favorite LYS is in La Grange, KY and we're going to that area today for DGS's wedding. Then I also remembered that the shop is closed on Mondays, anyway.

Oh, well!

I dicovered a yarn shop purely by accident (car broke down) and I have been dying to get back to it. Seemed like a very friendly group who invited me just to come sit and work in their knitting area. I just wanted to hug all the beautiful yarns!
Maybe I'll make it my goal to go when the kids start school again. I can take the wool I'm knitting up to felt as a needle felting base.

I am from the south suburbs myself, and would like to visit this shop.

LaGrange does not follow the "Gold Standard" of Chicago's street numbering...would you be so kind as to provide a cross street that would help me find it?

Thanks, enjoy your day.

I'm from a west suburb and looking at Google maps, 515 La Grange Rd is just south of 47th St.
