I'm driving myself crazy looking over the Wingspan pattern ( downloaded),I don't see any yardage. Those of you who've made it, how much do I buy?

You're welcome....have fun with it.
FWIW, I've made 2 and I made them longer by 2 triangles....a total of 10 instead of 8. So, you might want to keep that possibility in mind when you buy the yarn.

I think you'll be happy you did, gives you more draping options.
I also did the beaded cast off around the neck edge... Very pretty.

Jill, i'd think that the beaded edge would add a lot of weight to it.

It does add weight, but I don't find it to be too much.

The picture I posted shows a beaded cast OFF. I use a size 6 bead...I like to use mixed beads to add interest....it's lots of fun...enjoy!

Have never used beads in my work altho my mother used to do sequins and such in her sewing and knitting work when I was a kid. These do look nice here and was thinking of adding some to the next version of a scarf am doing now.

not that it the truest statement I have ever read..LOL I feel that way very often

When I made my wingspan I started out trying the pattern and ended up finishing it.. I did it in Red Heart Soft and I think it took about 2 skeins I am not positive because I started out with a partial skein then ran out and put a edging on it... its a versatile pattern that is why its so popular..

Jill, that shawl is lovely. I am dying to knit with beads, even bought a book, but so far, I haven't done it. I may need to take a class just to get a handle on the materials I need, bead sizes, etc. It seems adding the beads would give a nice heft that would make the shawl hang beautifully.

Barb, that is exactly what I have found. The added weight of the beads is just enough to aid in draping....they are so much fun to incorporate into just about any scarf or shawl. Hope you are able to play with beads soon.

Yardage will vary greatly depending on the weight chosen and if you want a scarf or a shawl Wingspan. I made 3 with Bernat Mosaic ( 3 skeins/627 yards for each) and one with Noro Silk Garden Lite (4 skeins/544 yards). All are shawl sized.
