Has anybody used colorshift yarn, is available as a kit form from Etsy, $205, includes the pattern.
I would like to see the yarn and what it feels like. I don't have a store nearby that carries such yarn.

I did a search, here is the first site that came up - there were more!
http://www.etsy.com/shop/colorshiftyarn

Those are ombre yarns, the site on easy that I looked at were a lot cheaper, but still pricey. Also you could easily dip dye a finished knit piece like a tee shirt or shawl to create a garment that changes color shades from tope to bottom or vice versa. I'm sure you will get a few other good suggestions, as while I know how I could do this, I actually haven't done it yet- it's more a 'work in mind', i have the "bare"yarn and have to knit it up and then dye it. but thanks for reminding me.

Having never heard of colorshift yarn and being most inquisitive, I googled and found that it is basically a combining of yarns in gradations from one color to another--thus colorshift--working with a series of yarns that progress through the hues that make up the two "end" colors.

The Colorshift Shop on etsy has several yarn kits for sale, starting at just over $50, with the top of the line being the one you mention, the Bosphorus kit at $205. It is indeed a beauty and contains 2640 yards of fingering weight Merino Superwash yarn, but no pattern; you must obtain the pattern from the designer.

It will be interesting to learn if anyone has used the yarn yet.

Thank you for all the responses, I think I will pass on this project, it seems that I would have to buy much more yarn then needed. As per the designer mentions on the project page. Yes it is beautiful, but a bit to expensive for me.

When I checked the pattern again it says that you will have Plenty of leftover, and since there is intarsia involved it tell me that the yarn it will be so many skeins of each color and not variegated, as so many of the new yarns. The kit comes with yarn and charts, and the designer says that is a bit difficult.
No problem with intarsia but when it comes to lace, not enough experience to get involved with such pattern.
