I am knitting with 2 different colors of yarn and they get tangled all the time. Does anyone have any ideas for keeping the yarns from twisting around each other??

Wrap each color around a "bobbin" and gradually unwind as needed for the pattern. Public Television shows demonstrated how to keep 'sane' while doing multi-color work. I know the theory...don't have to do the work.

If I am using two colors, I put one on either side of my chair... no tangling will ever happen this way.

Put each colour in a zip-lock bag, then if they do twist it is much easier to untangle.

I always put the background colors on my right side.....and the pattern colors on the left side. Hope this help.

Also check your yarn after every couple of rows, if it is tangled its easier to untangle a smaller tangle than a big mess.

Also, when I tend to get tangles in my yarns is on the turn. I try to make sure to turn first to the right then the next turn to the left etc. That way the second turn undoes the twist from the first turn. Otherwise I'm just a hopeless mess like my yarns!

I started to say this same thing, but my wording was more tangled than my yarns...you did a much better job explaining

try to get in the habit of turning your work one way then the other way.. and check it every few rows after awhile it becomes a habit and you don't even think about it any more.

Someone on the blog suggested threading the yarn through a straw. I was so fascinated I remembered it.

Also, you can thread the ends through straws to keep the yarn from twisting together.

Another thought, you can knit both ways thus eliminating the turns at all.
