I would like to find a pattern with a zigzag design suitable for an afghan. Can anyone help?

The pattern is the one shown in soft shades of blue/green and is knitted in strips. I'm making a large swatch to check gauge, and think I will like the pattern. I plan to knit it in two shades of gray, striping it horizontally, and will knit it in one piece instead of in strips. It's for a grandson who will be graduating from high school.
