I thought we were slipping purlwise!! I am confused about the slip stitches. When I slip stitch either purl OR knit wise my edge doesn’t look neat like the videos show I don’t know why.

I wish I could teleport myself there to see what/how you are stitching. My 98 stitches are back onto my longest 3mm circular.

I switched from knit to cable cast on...personal preference for knitting style. I started out as a crocheter (30+ years) and only picked up knitting in the last 5-15. I am stronger with math to compensate for lack of knitting experience.

Smart phones are great, but I love my laptop!

It is possible to send website addresses easier than screenshots via phone device. I should know!

I am thankful for the other person who saw the color I was trying to point out and provided the color shot needed!

So how do you mark the stitches? Do you just hook on a marker on a loop of the first stitch for each pattern repeat?

That is how I will be doing it.

Though I will have to switch to slipping knit-wise! I had to recast on because the stitches started feeling off!

Someone who I know cannot have grain/gluten made an EXCELLENT ginger cookie tonight. I have more for another day.

I am currently on the 2nd 30-minute session for cooking rice. Beans and hominy will be added for my snack. I don’t think I need more sugar right now.

I am saddened to see both boxes of ashes...but I realize I cannot have controlled what my mom was thinking and feeling. I can reflect that she was talking about ‘just giving up’. That phrase ‘you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink’ is EXACTLY what I was up against!

You don’t expect someone who enjoyed total independence for over 40+ years to accept confinement! The other fact is that she could not see to do any I don’t have any guilt taking back my chrome paper towel dispenser, etc.

I know a few of these items... but I am watching/commenting so that I can get something else possibly.

You stop learning if you don’t read FREQUENTLY!

Double knitting tutorial search:

Fair aisle:

I have worked with double knitting...but not fair aisle. I can, however, research as much as I can on quite a few items.

With me it's more, either the realisation I better head to the bog extra fast- or that the arthritis will not cope with any more inactivity. Alternatively something that will galvanise into action is when I hear the ominous sound of Ringo about to heave, Or simply I wake up as the credits roll on the program I thought I was watching!(or the one after!)
Cramping in my fingers, some days is an issue too.

You HAVE to appreciate when Morpheus takes over! I had a nice nap prior to 5pm EST after a great haircut and shampoo at the beauty shop. Once a year is a necessity for trimming up hair!

I frequently have nap attacks after washing my hair.

I help with more than one non-English speaker. Nor am I going to point out any other issues.

Thanks for YOUR lack of courtesy! You can rant all you wish as I have unwatched this topic!

Thank you kaixixang! I understand the repeat know! but you lost me at “carefully measure”? MATH?! Why do I need to do this?

If you want 60 or 72 inches, you have the choice of ADDING/subtracting the start/finish rows for an estimate of total length of project. Either way you still have to consider the start/finish length so that you will have enough skeins available.

I had you measure the start so that you could guess at how many 4-row repetitions for ‘center’ area of the project.

Child blanket is usually 30-40 inches square. I will calculate with FEWER confusing steps if you need me to. I mention the 60/72 inches because of MY commission for a scarf/shawl.

Feather and fan or old shale is fun to knit. Enjoy!!

What I am enjoying is the slipped stitch at the beginning of every row. Assume slip knitwise if nothing is specified?

Hello! I am a very inexperienced knitter and a self learner but I am determined! My oldest daughter is due with my first grandchild end of March. I have started a blanket tonight, I’m at the end of the border and I’m stumped bc I feel like I’m missing something. Here are the instructions:
1st row: s1, knit to end
Repeat this row 7 times more
9th row: s1, knit to end

Ok so my question is: is it just me it should this have said “repeat this row 8 more times” why are the instructions written this way? I just don’t want to go any further until I understand this!!
Hello! I am a very inexperienced knitter and a sel... (show quote)

Ahhh...something I can answer!

You will have 8 hatch marks (8 repeats) of knitting with the row 1 instructions.

Then, starting with row 9, you will have a feather and fan combination of at least 4 rows per repeat. Carefully measure the 1-8 rows and write that measurement down. You want a certain length—> subtract what would be the two top/bottom measurements from this.

I will try to talk you through the have helped me with the posting of this pattern I want to work with.

It looks great. I think tatting will soon be a lost art

Jessica-Jean commented wisely that I should not try to over extend myself getting the shuttle if I already had various tatting needles.

I have all the instructions for shuttle tatting, but like the spinning, no one to offer instructions
