Oops, I meant we would fly into Fairbanks, then go south.
So far, we are thinking of flying to Seattle/vancouver. Then take a flight to anchorage. We want to go to the fair, see Denali, go to Fairbanks, see glaciers. I do want to go through the inside passage, but that will need to be on the ferry. Then drive back to seattle/vancouver to fly home.
Still working on the itinerary. There's a lot of info out there!
We have been a cruises, he hasn't enjoyed either one. He doesn't like that he can't get off whenever he wants and is tired to someone's else's timeframe.
I think we will be able to do the ferry instead on the inside passage.
My husband and I are going to Alaska in August to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. He is not interested in a cruise. What are 'musts' we should see? Has anyone been to the state fair, how is it?
Love the colors! Nice job.
I did make this shawl. After a few attempts, it wasn't bad, and you pick up stitches to make the next one (so it's not individual ones you have to sew afterwards). I intended to make the larger ones, but after awhile decided to go with the smaller scarf. It is a very pretty pattern and nice to wear.
My daughter will be in Alaska this week and has asked what I'd like for Christmas. Anyone have any ideas of something that would be specific to Alaska (she'll be in Kodiak and Dutch)? Any particular yarns? food (not salmon), or ?
We have homemade pizza. Family brings various fixings and my husband makes them (you can put in an order for whatever you want). My MIL started this tradition when she had 12 children at home and wanted something easy to do. We have lots of Christmas cookies, someone usually brings cheesecake or trifle. Most people stick around all day and we end up with two servings!
This is the cable pattern I'm using. I thought it would look cool for the Christmas Tree. I'm going to try the suggestion with adding some stitches, and if that still doesn't work, will try the horseshoe. Thanks for the idea.
I decided to take a break and start working on the little ornaments to attach to the tree. I still need to embellish the mitten and stocking...
They both look great, and you used a beautiful color blue. How did you make the flower?
Looks great. I saw the same pattern and although I'm more of a knitter, had to make it for my office. It was really fun to crochet and put the colors together!
I am designing an advent calendar with a Christmas Tree in the middle. I want to put some cables within the Christmas tree, but the cables are making the material smaller than when I'm not cabling. I remember reading somewhere about increasing stitches to accommodate the cabling; but how do I figure out how much to increase?
I have 49 stitches across. I'm using a cable pattern that uses 6 stitches. Hopefully, the picture helps show what I'm trying to do.
Thanks for your help!
