College is not for everyone. There are well-paying careers that can be gained by apprenticeship, paid for by the employer.
Everyone needs mechanics, electricians, plumbers, etc. and some people would rather work at such things and not have mountains of debt from college or university over their heads.

Having said that, you still need to find something to be able to support yourself. It is too much to ask of anyone to completely finance your lifestyle. What if your situation changes and you find yourself on your own?

Sometimes wishes have to take a back seat for necessities so find something that you could support yourself with and work at your art in your spare time. If you are good enough you will eventually be able to support yourself with it, in the meantime try to be realistic.

As my father used to say, you need to have a backup plan in case the first one doesn't work out. He was right.

IMHO Legos are a much better activity for children (and adults) than Iphones, Ipads, etc. and not that expensive in comparison.

At first I thought, "Amazing!" then I read the comment. Still amazing. I can't imagine my two sitting still like that.

DD is taking me to the movie tomorrow. I can't wait.
I was a fan of the series and have watched them all. Another DD and I toured Highclere Castle while on holiday in England a few years ago. It's fun to remember seeing the beautiful rooms in the castle.
I know I'm going to enjoy this!

I had one in-ear hearing aid for years. When it quit working and I went for new I found that my good ear was as bad as the other one. This time I got the ones that fit over your ear and I hate them. They get caught in my glasses and I have almost lost them a few times. Sounds are tinny, they are terrible for background noise and in a crowd I'm better off without them.
They still sell the same ones as my original and if I could afford it I would get the same again. In the meantime I will just have to do with the ones I have, better than nothing.
When I went for new hearing aids my DD said. "Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to just say Huh?" LOL she has a point.

Thanks for this post. The local food bank is having a Thanksgiving food drive this morning and it reminded me to get my contribution out to the street. I had forgotten to do it.

I think the problem of hungry kids is because the younger generation has never had to pull in their belts so have no idea how.
When my kids were in school we were struggling financially. I had become friends with the visiting health nurse (one daughter had ongoing health issues) and she asked me if I would go over our food budget, she didn't know anyone else well enough to ask them. They had received the budget allowances from the government and she thought it was impossible to feed a family on what they allowed.
It took three or four days to go over it all and the final result was that I was feeding my family better for less than what the government stipulated. It can be done if you know how.

I have a potato masher that was a wedding gift from my cousin 66 years ago. She filled a box with just about every cooking utensil you could think of, the best gift I got. The masher is the only thing left.
I have a silver tablespoon that belonged to my grandmother that I use occasionally and some of her glass pie plates, rolling pin and dinnerware. I use my mother's loaf and muffin pans all the time.
I think of them whenever I use their things but when I'm gone they will have no value to anyone and will probably be trashed.

I am on one Ignore list that I know of. Can't for the life of me figure out why. Don't let it bother you, it certainly doesn't bother me.

So far we have had a rainy September, cloudy and only a few warm days. I don't mind winter except for the snow. I would prefer fall all year long.
Our Provincial government is considering not switching back to standard time this fall; I hope they come through with it. I hate the time change and Daylight Savings time would give us a little more sunlight in the afternoons. I could handle that.
