I've ordered from them before and will purchase from them again. Took a long time to get the yarn and I experienced the same lack of communication between the initial "how to track your order" message and the "your yarn has been shipped" message. Obviously not a good thing if you want/need the yarn right now. But, oh, when it arrived? So worth the wait! Beautiful yarn!
Thank you for your quick responses. Some good ideas and I'll figure out what I want to do and have a go at it!
I have been knitting for almost 50 years so I should know the answer to this question ... but I don't. Hopefully, you can provide the answer!
Looking at a sweater pattern to be knit in 100% cotton. Sweater pattern says to knit a swatch, wash the swatch and then measure it for gauge. My question is, if the swatch shrinks should I try another swatch using a different size needle then wash it and measure it until until I get something that meets the gauge? Or do you start making changes to the number of stitches for the front, back, etc? Or, can you simply pre-shrink the yarn prior to making the sweater?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Add me to the list of knitters who would really appreciate a written pattern as an option to the charts. These Berroco patterns are beautiful but unless I take the time to write them out ...
Your positive attitude and beautiful sock yarn ... the perfect combination! Blessing and prayers coming your way.
First and foremost - I want them to be successful so that they'll stay in town so they are always my first stopping place for yarn/needle purchases. I'm lucky - the staff at my LYS are great! Very helpful and friendly. They carry an incredible stock of yarns in all price ranges so if you're looking for a lower cost yarn for a charity project, you can find something without it costing an arm and leg. On the other hand, if you're feeling as though you want to treat yourself to a really special yarn, they have that too.
I just UNINSTALLED Chrome - it caused a problem in my system that made the computer think that I needed to upload Adobe Flash Player. I was trying to upload pictures to eBay so it was frustrating to say the least. Ended up called my "computer guy" who came over and took a look at what was going on and then asked, have you recently installed Chrome? Yes indeed! He says it can cause all kinds of problems - obviously, not all the time since some people use it and love it. He was nice enough NOT to charge me for a service call. Just know that if you've recently uploaded Chrome and now you're having problems, dump Chrome off your computer. Despite the fact that Google makes it sound as though you're not going to be able to access anything without it, that's not the case.
There are knitting groups two times a week at the present time - one on Tuesday morning and one in the evening but I don't recall which night. Not sure about knitting lessons but they were willing to help people with problems during the grand opening activities so I'm thinking that they are store owners of the "helpful variety". Yes, lots of seating upstairs in an open area with chairs, couches, etc. - no elevator however to get upstairs if stairs are an issue. Wide variety of yarns in every price range including local hand spun.
I was driving home from a quick trip to the post office yesterday when I saw that a new yarn shop had quietly opened and was having a soft grand opening. Parked in first spot I came to (luckily a legal spot at that!) and ran in just to have a look. They had a huge variety of lovely yarns, needles, books/patterns and accessories. After more than just looking (aka as buying!) I got home an hour later than expected. I did work on putting up the Christmas tree and doing some general cleaning .... but thinking about my next project and all that yarn. Talk about visions of sugar plums dancing in my head!
Thank you for the kind welcome.
Been enjoying KP for a long time but never registered. Today's the day! Been knitting for 40+ years. Will post one of my first projects from 40 years ago soon.
